Look Old Guy, I know you mean well, but please look at the directions on how to make a talkback in collection thread at the top of the page. Its there to maintain consistancy.

Just got back from the theater and I wasn't disappointed. The movie was every bit as over the top ridiculous and INCREDIBLY fun as I thought it would be. I would actually really like to see it in IMAX.

Awesome. I'm gonna see it on Saturday, so now I'm more hyped.

I've heard critics joke that this movie is just Shia running.

that pretty much sums it up

I knew walking in this movie was going to be dumb but my god it took them that long to figure out how to stop the computer it also felt like a bad I-robot wannabe I thought Shia did a good job with what he had to work with but that didn't stop this movie from being any good

Was anyone else reminded of the game Portal? ARIA sounds just like GLADOS nad has a lot of resemblances in how it acts. (except it dosen`t go crazy at the end, just evil)

Really, really good except for the last couple minutes. Oh, man, what an unfortunate lapse in judgment by the writers and/or director. If they had cut out the last few minutes, would have been a near perfect experience.

Not sure how many spoilers you want, but here are some, including what the threat turns out to be. Be warned:

Jerry and Rachel, two regular, ordinary people receive mysterious phone calls from an unknown woman that plunge them into danger and conspiracy. Starts with Jerry coming home to his apartment to find it filled with weapons and, soon after, the FBI comes crashing in. Eventually, the mystery voice helps him escape and he meets up with Rachel. They continue together following the mystery woman's instructions while being pursued by the FBI. Rachel is being leveraged by threat of violence against her son. Both live in fear of being killed. And whoever's directing them has eyes and ears everywhere and an ability to tap into any camera, phone, computer, etc. that's networked.

Eventually, they discover the "woman" is actually an AI called "Eagle Eye" created by the Department of Defense and now, unknown to them, operating independently with the ultimate aim of killing the President and other key individuals in power in order to install new leadership for the benefit of the nation's security. Or something like that.

Kind of felt like a cross between the first half of the Matrix, Die Hard 4, and I, Robot.

So any explanation on why Rachel and Jerry in particular?

So any explanation on why Rachel and Jerry in particular?
Jerry's twin brother Ethan was with the Eagle Eye project and discovered what the AI was attempting to do, so he placed a lock on its ability to carry out the operation. Ethan wouldn't lift the lock so the AI killed him, seeing him as a security threat (and made the killing look like a normal traffic accident). The AI then needed to get Jerry to come down and lift the lock since the voice recognition program would mistake Jerry's voice for Ethan's. And then the AI could continue with the operation against the President and the other 9 targets. Rachel was chosen because her young son and his classmates were on a trip to DC to perform at some big venue or event. The AI, at some point, re-directed the group to perform at the capital, I think, where all 10 targets would be present at one location. Meanwhile, it also made certain to get Rachel there wearing a necklace that contained an explosive that would be triggered sonically. Her son’s instrument had been tampered with and when it hit a certain note, it would trigger the explosion.

DAYeah you pretty much summed it up. It was a decent movie, Shia LaBeouf, Michelle Monaghan happen to be two of my fav. actors so I couldnt go wrong with this movie. But one of the many things I just couldnt let go was the fact that twins dont really have the same voice. Being a twin myself, my brothers voice is pretty different from mine and anybody that calls us on the phone can instantly tell who it is just by the voice. I highly doubt a shopisticated machine like that could mistake one twins voice for the another as Im pretty sure we dont sahre the same vocal patterns.

Finally got around to seeing it tonight. I loved it. It's your typical computer taking over the world movie, but it was fun.

You mean the scene where it seems like they are a couple? I wasn't disappointed cause it seemed obvious throughout the movie.

I thought it was a really good movie, kinda reminded me of Die Hard 4.0 with the whole hacking everything attached to the grid. And I agree with the people who thought the last few minutes were bad, the whole couple thing made no real sense to me at all.

Not exactly. I mean that he survived. That he stands up in a room where the President is, fires his gun repeatedly, which (understandably and expectedly) results in him being shot, but then he comes out perfectly fine with his arm in a sling. Please. That was ridiculous. And for what? That final scene with the two of them in her home and that kiss on the cheek she gave him? Added absolutely nothing.

He had a perfectly good death, sacrificing his life for the good of his country. That was all handled perfectly and then the next couple minutes unnecessarily completely destroy that.

Jerry's (Shia) brother already died for his country. No reason for Jerry to die as well. If anything he should live, so he could continue his brothers work.

As for the romance, it didn't come out of nowhere. There was hints throughout the movie that it was gonna happen. And, I don't see a problem with it either. They went through hell together so why not live through heaven as well.
