I saw this commercial yesterday talking about how due to the election, they're putting the political school house rock shorts on dvd, and I see this.

I know ABC is owned by the Mouse House, but come on now.

The only thing that troubles me about this is the fact that the "Disney presents" thing kinda draws your eye away from everything else.

That's what it's trying to do. It's more likely to be noticed by people if it's got the "can do no wrong" Disney logo on the front of it.

Hey, as long as people are buying the DVDs, why should it matter? The adults who are old enough to remember Schoolhouse Rock already know whose really behind it's creation, and the kids whom the parents are probably buying it for won't pay attention to the credits until years later (Of course, I've always paid attention to the credits as a kid, but I was the exception).
Disney is only "presenting" the Schoolhouse Rock DVD, they're not implying that the Mouse House had a hand in it's creation.

I did notice a larger notice on the TV commercials, but I don't see what's so wrong about it. ABC is owned by Disney so it is, in a way, releasing Schoolhouse Rock.

It does not seem that distracting to me and well it's says presents which gives the feeling that they are not taking credit's for making it just that now they are presenting it. If it was say Disney's School House Rock that would be taking credit for it.

It's gratuitous, yes, but it's not false advertising. Disney owns ABC, and ergo, vicariously they also own the rights to Schoolhouse Rock. And since it's their DVD, they are, in fact, "presenting" it.
No real harm is being done here. Heck, many people already think Disney is behind everything anyway.

I also don't see it as taking credit away from Tom Yohe and George Newall - they're not claiming ownership, they're just "presenting" the shorts.
I do like the fact that the box mentions "Every ^Schoolhouse Rock Song Ever Created", probably to offset any complaints from people who are under the assumption that all those animated ABC Saturday Morning public service announcements were Schoolhouse Rock shorts too.

I don't like the way it has Disney on the top. That to me seems wrong since they didn't make it.

I don't think I cared for it much as a child.

"I'm just a bill. Just a bill. Sitting here on Capital Hill."
I always loved these. Yeah, the Disney logo is distracting. Don't like it that much. But I won't lose sleep over it.

But Disney isn't saying that they made it; only that they're the ones who have packaged the shorts together onto the set and are presenting them.
-Of course, that won't stop some people from thinking that it's Disney who made these shorts, especially the ones who aren't old enough to have seen them first-run on ABC.

I know they aren't saying that they made it, but it just looks wrong.

I don't think that they are taking credit. It says "Disney Presents," not "Created By Disney." And the logo doesn't distract me at all. Maybe it is just because I am a huge Disney fan, but I am perfectly fine with this. Anyway, I've always loved Schoolhouse Rock so I will probably buy this set.

If "Amendment to Be" was an easter egg on this set, I would laugh so hard!
