View Full Version : So how much continuity do you expect Samauri Jack to have? (Spoilers from all eps)

To me it seems like he's gathering allies for some kind of inevitable final conflict with Aku (perhaps the very last episode.)

I mean look.

The dogs that Jack helped in the last part of the pilot may come and help him.

The underwater creatures that tried to trick him with the underwater time machine, later became his freinds.

The Woolies from ep 4 may make an appearence again, along with their king/deity thing.

The Norse King guy, who went to Valhalla, heck he may come back.

The Three Archers from the Well may help him as a way for paying him back.

The people Jack helped escape to space may come back with new technology or something to fight Aku with.

The Scottsman: Nuff said, completly equal to Jack in skill (and why is Aku after him, I hope they answer this.)

And those little monkey creatures who taught him to "Jump high." I suspect that he may use this new found abilites at some point in the series, when we forget he even had it.

And the rest of the people may come up, because his legend is rising and they realize that they can beat Aku (This may be how they end the series actually, with the people rising up and stopping him)

Opinions?

I hope that doesn't happen. It just sounds stupid to me, but that's just my opinion :)

Didn't the mastermind of Samurai Jack himself state that each episode was its own self-contained story?

What about those other water-creatures in the trilogy movie?

I believe what Genndy meant was that Jack is like Bebop.. self-contained stories but a continuous plot running through.

Sadly that has been brought to a jarring halt this week, and next week looks to do the same. Oh well.

they should have a big gang of all the people I.R. Joey was talking abiout and they should all attack Aku at once and kill him, that would be a final episode to see

Jack may rally the pathetic creatures of the world to fight Aku, but they will all fail; Aku has armies, too. The final fight must be just between the two. I do not want my Master's last thought (if it comes to such a terrible thing) to be of how bad wet woolies smell...

And speaking of final episodes...

I was lurking around the Cartoon Network website and discovered that this season only consists of 7 new episodes, and that their numbers end on XX. Twenty is such a round number, and they created so few... can anyone convince me that this will not be the end of this great Ak- er, show? :( I will give you a slightly used cookie if you can.

Well, from what I've heard, every show originally produced by CN gets at least a 26 ep run on the air, which is equivalent to about one full season of once a week eps. CN will only pull it beforehand if a show is doing CATACLYSMICALLY bad. And from what I've seen and heard, the show is generally being regarded as a runaway hit, due to its innovative style.

In addition to this, CN originals are given a written agreement for a certain number of eps to be produced, and for most, it comes to about 52 eps in total for the contract, a year of once-a-week eps. Johnny Bravo was a perfect example of this set up: it ran 52 episodes, then finished the series cleanly. Some other shows like Dexter's Lab and the Powerpuff Girls may get renewed for more because of their massive popularity.
I can safely estimate that we are going to see the full 52 eps of the show. The only thing I think could keep this from happening is the high rate of reruns they currently show. True, a series in its fledgeling run doesn't have much to fall back on when in need of rerun material to fill gaps in the season, but I think the present rate is a little heavy, and it's been used mainly for hype purposes like mini-marathons and such.
If we calculate the rerun rate, I think we can say that we've cycled through the first thirteen eps at least twice, plus one more time for the marathons. Now on the usual week, the ep was shown about three times, Monday, Friday and Sunday.
So two cycles, times 13 eps, times three showings a week, plus thirteen more for the marathons equals 91 reruns. That means each ep of the first 13 has been already been shown at least 7 TIMES.

Now, I love this show as much as the next blitherer, but if they keep saturating the airwaves with episodes that have already been seen so many times, they're gonna lose a LOT of viewers out of boredom and frustration. There must be a better way to get the show started and endeared to the viewer's hearts other than mass overdose...

But this series continues to happily surprise me, so I'm not really all that worried about it's future.

P.S. I think it's bloody GREAT we've got an Aku fan out there. *chuckles* Sometimes I have a hard time deciding whether it's the hero or the villain I like better in a series, and this show is a FINE example of that conflict! I mean, who couldn't love a devious smile like that? :D

Evil IS cuddly.

Your reasoning has merit, Lyra. I pray that you are right; twenty episodes is NOT enough! I will cling to this iota of hope for now. Oops! I said the h-word.

*hands Lyra a slightly used cookie shaped like Jack's severed head*

P.S. Yes, I am a devoted fan of Aku! I have always prefered the villain in a show, ever since I was very young... that is, as long as he isn't a blithering moron. If the villain stinks or is plain too silly, I can't watch it. After all, evil makes the show. ;) A few eloquently evil lines are enough to get me hooked, especially when they're spoken in such a sens- er, great voice. By the way, I love your artwork, Lyra! Even though only 18% is of Aku ;)

Cuddly... I will add that one to my list.
