Is there one person who you feel is responsible for ruining Cartoon Network, directly or indirectly?
Now, I'm not saying it's bad, I'm just asking if it used to be better and someone...

What an indirect question. Do you mean a certain show or something? Do YOU think CN is better now than it used to be?

Noone ruined Cartoon Network.
Let's examine.
1993-1995.
Scooby repeats. Limited selection of Looney Tunes. Only 2 animes that were shown very rarely. No Cartoon Cartoons. Tons of Hanna Barbera shows. Space Ghost's early years weren't much to speak of.
2002.
Only two or three Scoobys a day. A huge selection of Looney Tunes. Several anime covering two blocks for chidren and adults. Hanna Barbera programming cornered off to less important hours. Several Cartoon Cartoons, all of which are terrific and especially better than anything on rival cartoon networks. Space Ghost becomes hilarious. Adult entertainment in the form of Adult Swim.
Yeah, they sure ruined Cartoon Network alright.

If CN is 'ruined', then 'ruined' isn't such a bad thing.

Well if you're going to ask a very general question like that, no one can give you a general answer. First, define the point at which it was ruined, and second, what actions were specific to it being ruined.
In my opinion the network has come a long way from being the Hanna Barberra retro channel to one of the largest markets for animation, hands down. I guess I'd like you to be more specific so I can comment on this.

What the f...(shut your mouth) is wrong with you, CN is NOT Ruined!!
I think it's pretty good right now. Here's a list of things I like about the channel
1.) Big Pick Weekend.
2.) New episodes each week.
3.) None of the shows are too bad.
4.) 16 hours of anime per week.
5.) An Adult Program Block for most of the night.
6.) Lots of classic cartoons.
7.) Lots of new ones.
8.) Beats the heck out of Nick.
9.) Cartoon Orbit.
10.) Many contests.
Cartoon Network is as their slogan says is "The Best place for cartoons"

I would add another item:
Best Promos On Television
Behonkiss

I have another: Best Presentation. Toonami, with the data screens, montage intros and ads, and Tom comments, game reviews, and such will likely never be matched.

Don't forget, guys! C-Network is also a station that hasn't tried to become TOO commerical, and actually listens to the fans. It picks up old fan favorites, and gives all its shows (be they pick-me-ups or whole new shows) a chance.
Yeah, I think it's still going strong. ;)

I like CN well enough, too much to say it's "ruined"....but if I had to pick a few low points, I'd say the biggest one for me personally is the day they introduced Toonami, followed closely by the end of Cartoon Planet. The biggest blight on CN in general would be the overplaying of a good thing until it's beaten into the ground (PPG, Scooby).
HOWVER: I can't hold any of these negatives against CN -- after all, we do have both Adult Swim and The Popeye Show now :).

I've had access to CN for about three years now, and I think it's certainly gotten better each year. Why would anybody think it was ruined? Heck, the addition of Adult Swim was enough to seal me in as a fan, but they were strong even before that.

In my opinon, only one thing on CN has been ruined.
Only Toonami. :P It has been turned from an "action cartoons block" into a "Dragonball Cash Cow" block.
Other than that, things are pretty great. ^_^

Why are you dissing DBZ!?!?!?!?!
Calhoun07
03-07-2002, 11:48 PM
DBZ is way over exposed on CN right now. And over exposure of even the best shows is not a good thing.

i`m not that big of a fan of DBZ anymore, ever since the first time they showed the original frieza battle. but i have to say the creator has alot of talent. and i love how he did the anime scenes in the re-released chrono trigger!!

Yes I do agree with you if they actually didnt show the same saga over and over it would lose its redudndancy and we wouldn't have this problem.

What do you want then to do? Funi holds back it's episodes, so they can milk it, and sell DVD's. What can they do? Personally I love DBZ, and I know the majority of viewers do also. Until that changes, nothing is gonna be different.
Also if CN is ruined, then everything should be!

Well I don't know, but I think they should stop keep making new Cartoon Cartoon shows like Time Squad and Grim+Evil, now Robot Jones! They need to focus on making more new episodes of the classics like Dexter,Johnny Bravo,Courage, and Cow+Chicken!I miss Cow+Chicken!

The dynamic has changed since it first went on the air with the old HB/WB/MGM cartoons. The network has moved towards original programming. They don't show the old HB stalwarts that much such as the Flintstones and Scooby Doo, and they could easily relegate those shows to CN2 (aka Boomerang).
CN is starting to form their own identity, especially since the advent of the Cartoon Cartoons and Toonami (though obviously the toons are from elsewhere).
Bring back the Cow! :D

i don't think cartoon network is ruined and i think it's good that they're making new cartoon cartoons because some of them are very good(i personally like grim+evil a lot);i just don't they should get carried away so that they forget about the others they have already made.
