Zits and the City? Teen novels coming about Carrie
1 hour, 17 minutes ago

Meet Carrie Bradshaw, in her teenage years.

"Sex and the City" author Candace Bushnell is writing a pair of teen novels, "The Carrie Diaries," that "takes readers back to Carrie Bradshaw's formative years in high school, giving an inside look at Carrie's friendships, romances and how she realized her dream of becoming a writer," HarperCollins announced Wednesday.

The first book will come out in 2010. Bushnell, in a statement issued by her publisher, said, "Carrie in high school did not follow the crowd — she led it. It was there that she began observing and commenting on the social scene."

Bushnell's adventures of Carrie and her Manhattan pals were adapted into the hit HBO series starring Sarah Jessica Parker and a feature film that came out this year. Her fifth novel, "One Fifth Avenue," is coming out this month.

Are you male?

It was a joke, hence the wink. Although if they do make a series and/or movie I'm sure guys will stop complaining about the "old ladies". lol.

If they're going to have a show like that, why not just base it off real teen girls? We know how girls in high school these days like to sleep around and brag about how many guys they've had. When I was in high school, girls weren't like that at all.

They haven't confirmed it as a SHOW yet, but.....yeah, it's more than likely anyway. Bushnell now has the Stephen King power to make anything she writes down become a movie or TV show, including her shopping list.

I'd say the CW would be interested, but there might not be a CW by the time she writes enough of the books.

Of course the CW would be interested...they need programming to stay alive. Once they let Smallville return to the grave, they aren't left with much beyond Top Model and Gossip Girl...

This sounds like an idea that Candace might enjoy doing, but we'll regret having to live with as it's repeatedly milked for money.

Really? cuz i know for a fact that girls whole sleep around and then go on to brag about it are rare if not completely nonexistent. I think your confusing that idea with guys, who like to shag and brag. I mean girls who like sleeping around dont really carry it as badge of honor, let alone brag about. Whats there to brag about anyways, its no secret that since the day a girl turns 13 every guy that she meets will more then likely want to sleep with her. So while I agree that girls in high school can be known to sleep around i dont really think they brag about it to much.

So women do think Carrie is that interesting...
She led the highschool crowd. HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! What a nice way of saying she was the mean, popular queen bee who put other girls down for every trite thing because she herself was so emotionally and mentally insecure and stunted. I wonder if she started smoking and drinking excessively in high school as well...

What's interesting is that the books (and potential series/movies) will take place in the `80s which was the decade of excess, so it'll be interesting to see how everything ties together.

The 80s? It'll be stuck together with mountains of cocaine and the level of casual sex that's only possible in a society that thinks only gay people can get AIDS.

The 80s?

Well, yea, seeing as how the show takes place in modern times it's obvious that the high school years will take place sometime in the `80s.

I read about this on TV Guide's website. Someone mentioned that Candace Bushnell based Sex and the City off of her own life and that she didn't have sex in high school, so this book may not have any sex in it at all. That would explain why the word sex isn't in the title.

Eh...I don't know. It's not as much as guys but when I was in high school there were definitely some girls who would brag about getting laid the night before. Not that I think that's a bad thing. It's kind of sexist that people who have multiple partners are treated differently depending on their gender. Supposedly, it's a new trend that girls are referring to themselves as players. I haven't witnessed this myself, but perhaps that will help to put the sexes on more equal footing.

Just because she didn't have sex doesn't mean she didn't do other things. ;)
