Thought this might be an interesting thread, which comic strips currently run in your local paper? For mine it would be:
Close To Home
Dennis the Menace
FBOFW: Brand New Day (as one TZ poster referred to it)
Dilbert
Blondie
Mallard Fillmore
Crankshaft
Garfield
Beetle Bailey
Hagar
Baby Blues (and that strips going to need a name change soon)
Arlo and Janis
B.C.
Snuffy Smith
Wizard of Id
Shoe
Judge Parker
Apt. 3G
Cathy
Mark Trail
Doonesbury
Jump Start
As you can see, outside of possibly crankshaft, nothing out of the ordinary (at least the sunday edition carries opus, but apparently berke's pulling the plug on that strip if recent strips are any indication).

As you can read, there are a few rare ones in there. In fact, my paper even prints a strip that was submitted to them locally and not through a syndicate. "Adam's Apples," about the author's experiences as a teacher. Of course, I applaud such a bold move to break the syndicate stranglehold. There's only one problem though...."Adam's Apples" isn't funny.
Here's the only strip I remember right now:
"Michael Phelps is heading home now. But he had problems getting through the airport. He couldn't get through the metal detectors."
GEEEEEEEEEEEET IIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIT????

Yes, it's a list thread, but as long as people provide commentary about the newspaper strips running in their newspapers, and don't just list names, then we'll leave it open, for now.
(In other words, is there anything you find interesting about the strips running in your local newspaper? Don't just provide a list).

Off the top of my head, from the Indianapolis Star (Forgive me for forgetting a few, it's too early):
- Beetle Bailey
- Blondie
- Curtis
- Dilbert
- Peanuts
- Crankshaft
- Pearls Before Swine (But not the Sunday strips, oddly enough)
- Rex Morgan (Also without the Sunday Strip)
- Dennis the Menace
- Non Sequitar
- Speedbump
- Candorville
- Pickles (No Sunday Strip)
- Wizard of ID
- Zits
- Baby Blues
- Luann (No Sunday Strip)
- Garfield
- Family Circus
- Cathy
- Get Fuzzy (No Sunday Strip)
- Rose is Rose
- Hagar the Horrible
- Hi & Lois
- Jumpstart (No Sunday Strip)
- Doonesbury
- Lio (No Sunday Strip)
- Marmaduke
- Baldo (No Sunday Strip)
Sunday Exclusives
- Opus
- Foxtrot
- For Better or For Worse
- Ziggy
What's really odd is that the paper runs Dilbert, but they run it in the Business section for the weekday strips. They run FBoFW on Sundays, but dropped the weekday strips.
My two favs are Dilbert and Pearls, and they're the only two I'll actively go out of my way to read.
