Buizel learned Water Pulse while at the same time Ash won his third badge (in a tie).
Team Galactic and their plan to take over the world was stop for the moment.
Ash’s next gym battle will be in Pastoria Town.

Last Time:
“Our Cup Runneth Over!”
Encore Saturday, September 13th @ 9:00am
Dawn met the Contest Master Wallace while he was on his break. Dawn and Ash had a practice contest battle and Wallace gave Dawn some very useful advice. He also suggested that both Dawn and Ash should compete in the Wallace Cup. Wallace then gave our heroes an appeal demonstration and Ash gave an old friend a call.

This Time:
“A Full Course Tag Battle!”
Saturday, September 13th @ 9:30am
Ash, Dawn, and Brock meet up with May in the Sinnoh region. May will also compete in the Wallace Cup because the ribbon can be used in any region. But before the contest starts, everyone gets a full course meal for free at a restaurant, but there’s a catch…
4
Notes:
Yeah, May’s back, and like Ash, she got some new clothes.
And remember, Wallace isn’t the Sinnoh champion, he’s the overall champion!
We will now be entering the Wallace Cup ark, so get used to the characters that show up for the next few episodes.
September means that it’s back to school. So, yeah, enjoy that.

This was fun filler episode, I liked the two resturant owners who I believe are called Roman and Kylie. May was awsome in her return, May and Dawn make a great team. Now May is somebody Dawn should be listening to as a mentor. Even though they got blasted off as usual, Team Rocket won for once. Once they ate the food, no one can take back from them. And May being angry, I loved it.

Where was Max in this episode?
See, this is why May is awesome. C'mon, she was adorable in this ep, especially when her food was stolen. Why they had to replace her with such a dull character like Dawn is beyond me.

Where was Max in this episode?
Max is home in Petalburg City. In the last episode of Battle Frontier, May decides to travel to Johto alone while Max goes back home to Petalburg.
I haven't watched the dub of this episode yet but I've seen the Japanese version and liked it. I'll probably watch the dub later today, there were a number of great moments in this ep.

I know how you feel. May is so much more interesting and better, in my opinion, than Dawn is. Of course, Dawn is still a rookie and I'm just hoping that she'll improve as time goes on. As of now, I do agree that she's pretty dull, especially compared to May. The main reason why she was replaced for Dawn was pretty much to showcase the new kind of Contests in D/P with the girl trainer from those games instead of the one from R/S. Kind of sad if you think about it, but the show is there to advertise the games.
I thought that this was a great episode. I wouldn't really put this as a filler episode though since it is part of the Wallace Cup arc, an arc where there is a Contest, so it wouldn't necessarily be filler material. Anyway, I was happy to see May returning with some new clothes and Pokemon. She looked really cool in that Emerald outfit. It was nice of her to give Dawn a Piplup necklace like that. Of course, Dawn did know about May from off-screen conversations. I can't count how many times people complained about Ash and Brock not mentioning May when Dawn introduced herself as a Coordinator. Considering what had just happened to them, it wasn't really necessary for them to just mention that they were friends with another Coordinator.
It was cool that May evolved her Eevee back in Snowpoint City like that. Out of the two new Eevee evolutions, I think Glaceon has the best design. It was also nice to at least hear about Max, Drew and Harely. Drew having a Roserade was completely aswesome and Harely with his tough looking Wigglytuff was cool. It was also nice to hear how Max was doing back home. It would be cool to see him get his own Pokemon someday. And May has three ribbons from Johto already. She's been gone for like a season and a half. I can understand why she would have a hard time beating Drew, but he did beat Harely before and only lost to him once. Still, it was nice to hear that she's using this Contest to regain some of her spirit as well. If there's any Coordinator that Dawn should listen to for advice, I would definitely agree to it to be Dawn.
I thought that the battle resturant was fun. I was seriously surprised though that Ash and Brock with just one attack each. I wasn't expecting that, especially since they made the owners sound so strong. A team-up with May and Dawn was bound to happen. It was really cool seeing her Blaziken again, one of my favorite Pokemon on her team. I loved May's reaction when she saw that all of the food was stolen. Another reason why May's so much cooler than Dawn.
It was nice to see May finding Team Rocket with her Munchlax. I had a feeling she would keep that with her. I agree that Team Rocket did kind of win with eating all of the food like that. I got a nice laugh when May was impressed with their new motto. I did like how Dawn used Buneary along side May's Glaceon. That was pretty cool. Even though they didn't have to battle, they did so to pass the time away. Surprisingly so, the owners did put up more of a fight here than against Ash and Brock. It was awesome to see May use her skll and experience to pull out a good combination of fire and water for the win.
I really liked the ending with all of them looking out on the lake. It was nice to see Ash and Brock mention how May had a rough start, but became so strong at the end. That's definitely one reason why I like May. I also liked the reference to the episode where Ash and May tied for a ribbon, even though I didn't see it. At least Dawn can relate to keeping ribbons as good luck charms. I did like seeing May's surprised reaction about Ash entering the Contest and with meeting Wallace. That was good way to end the episode.
Overall, a great episode with a wonderful reunion between Ash, May and Brock. I liked seeing her in action again with her Pokemon. It made the idea of a spin-off series with May traveling the Johto region for Contest all the cooler to me, even though that's probably not going to happen. May is definitely my favorite of the female characters from Pokemon and I'm just glad to see her again as well. Hopefully, the Wallace Cup will be a lot more interesting than the other Contests in D/P so far, if only for the fact that we'll see May perform again. I'm so looking foreword to next week's episode.

Eh, I pretty much like May and Dawn almost equally. There are some things I like about May a little more than Dawn and some things I like about Dawn a little more than May. Granted I like May a little more at this point probably because I've seen how her whole arc played out already, whereas with Dawn we're still early on.
I figure if the writers are just going to keep changing the main girl every 4-5 seasons, its best to just enjoy them while they're here and recognize the good points of each girl character.
Still, I wish they did the same with the male sidekicks like Brock. Tracey was an ok character but he was barely here, it would have been better if Brock left as well and we got a new male sidekick in D/P to freshen up things.

Eh, I pretty much like May and Dawn almost equally.
Same here, although, as I said last week, May has always been my favorite of the 3 female traveling companions. Which is why I thoroughly enjoyed this episode. This was way better than Misty's cameo appearances in Advance Generation.
May winning 3 Johto ribbons is very impressive, even with her going through much of the same struggles we've seen Dawn encounter.
Dawn and May had amazing chemistry. They only just met each other, and they're already BFF's.
Glaceon is even cuter in animated form. Alos nice to see how May's friends and rivals are faring.
May going "fire-type" was hilarious. I love Dawn's "What's happened to our princess?" line.
Ash and Brock's tag battle was ridiculously short. That chump didn't stand a chance with that weak Snorlax.
OVERALL: A fantastic way to mark not only Platinum's release in Japan, but also the Wallace Cup arc, which promises to be epic now that's May's joined the party. 5/5.

I thought one of the more amusing things about this episode was when Dawn remarked May's earning of the title--"The Hoenn Princess". Cute. Absolutely cute.
Team Rocket also had some stellar funny lines :)

This episode was fantastic. I loved seeing May again, and I really liked Dawn so far, but May's personallity seemed much more lively than Dawn's. Now I didn't know that May was known as "The Honen Princess". Wow, she should really be honored at that title. And 3 ribbons is impressive. But I'm sure she's toe-for-toe with Drew and Harley. I also found the way May "turned into a fire type" was really funny. I was also really suprised to see May know her way around that part of the Sinnoh region already. She knew where all the points of interest were, and was only there for a few days.
Battling in order to eat, that was an interesting concept. I figured a Munchlax and Snorlax becuase it is a resturant, but I didn't expect to see Ash and Brock to get a 1 hit KO. I also expected to see Team Rocket to steal the food... yet another episode where they didn't try to steal Pikachu, or another pokemon.
And May's Glaceon is awesome... I don't know how else to decribe it.
As for May and Dawn's battle, I expected them not to get a one hit KO. But I didn't expect to see the Water/Fire combo. I'm sure Dawn will ues that in the future.
And May got the suprised that not only is Ash going to compete, but Wallace told Ash to compete himself. Hopefully May gets to meet Wallace as well.
Who do I like more... well, I can't really choose. I like all the female characters: Misty, May, and Dawn. They all have there positives and negatives. But for this episode, I liked May a little more. She was much more colorful than Dawn's seemingly flat personality lately.
On another note, when was the last episode that Piplup was actually in its pokeball? Seriously, I thought that right belonged to Pikachu alone?

Well, Togepi was always outside its Pokeball too, but considering it sat in Misty's arms its entire run, it was hardly ever noticeable. :p

Nope. She either carries Togepi in her arms or in her Backpack.

I never cared much for Togepi...kinda creepy.
I thought Blaziken and Piplup looked very cute together at the end of the episode, when Piplup was perched on Blaziken's shoulder. :anime:

This was a good episode, This was a good twist on that Cafe in DP, since well the player never seems to eat anything in the game, though in the game Roman and Kylie are the kids of the owners, Kylie father the owner, and Roman dad is the chef, from in-game text is to believe. Other than that, this is a good way to incorporate something like that the restaurant and not feel forced. The one thing that caught me off guard was "Haruka Theme- I Won't Lose" sure it was vocal less version, but it was still a nice surprise. Also I call hax on the Kylie Munchlax.

There are some episodes where Team Rocket doesn't try to steal Pikachu or another Pokemon. You'd be surprised how many times they've done that and I can think of a few times that they have done that in this season alone.
On another note, when was the last episode that Piplup was actually in its pokeball? Seriously, I thought that right belonged to Pikachu alone?
I'm glad that I'm not the only one whose annoyed with Piplup being outside of its ball. It was actually inside of its Pokeball for most of that Chingling episode, but its been mostly outside with Dawn during most of this season. Some people think that she wants to have a bond between her and Piplup similar to the bond Ash has between Pikachu. Others think that its like the mascot of Diamond and Pearl. I can see both of those reasons as being possible. Though I am getting tired of Dawn having it out and not giving that same attention to her other Pokemon. That's one of my personal issues with her character; she needs to give more attention and training to all of her Pokemon.
Nope. She either carries Togepi in her arms or in her Backpack.
I actually forgot that Misty never had a Pokeball for Togepi. I agree with CyberCubed that since it was almost always in Misty's arms or backpack that it became unoticedable, especially during the Johto seasons.

did anyone else notice may's smile when the restaurant owner was explaining the rules? It made me wonder how long she knew about the battle part of the restaurant.

May always managed to research guides for the most exotic restaurants during Battle Frontier, so I wasn't surprised to see she did research and found the 7-star Restaurant. While it was nice to see how Drew and Harley are doing, I do wish we got to see some of their contest battles instead of just hearing they've evolved some of their Poke'Mon and are equal or ahead of May in ribbons. That means there's been at least 9 contests May has been to in Jhoto already. It's a shame we won't see Drew, Harley, or Mando in the Wallace Cup though. Ash, May, Dawn, Jesse, and Zoey will surely make it memorable, but it would have been that much better if it had been Ash, May, Dawn, Jesse, Zoey, Drew, Harley, Mando, and Reggie all competiting in the Wallace Cup, much like how Ash and Misty both competed in the Whirl Cup.
Now, Charizard has always been my favorite fire final evolution, but Blaziken is a close second because of his leaping ability. I still prefer Charizard because I usually have him learn dig to go with his air style and fire style, meaning he's ony weak against ice attacks in the end when I play. Blaziken can't fly, so he'll always be second to Charizard in my book. Still, it was hilarious seeing May get firde up like that when the food was stolen. I didn't expect Munchlax to pick up on the smell that easily, as I expected Butterfree to be sent out searching, but it was a good way to make sure 3 of May's six Poke'Mon got to share some of the spotlight.
I think we all expected Pikacgu and Sudowoodoe to win their respective battle, and while I did expect Pikachu to get the KO as soon as Ash called for Volt Tackle, i was surprised to see that Sudowoodoe appears to be that strong.
As far as Piplup being outside of his Poke'ball, I have no problem with it, but I wish we could see a little more of Torchic. I'm glad we're finally going to get some Buizel love over the next few episodes as well, and Ash, while he tends to get carried away when doing contest battles, is still one of the strongest contest battlers. This'll be his third contest, and you can't deny that he had a draw in one and lost in the semi's in the other. I think May was more surprised that Ash has actually done a couple of contests since she left, but it also shows how she has learned from him and now realizes she will have to defeat her master to win the tourney.

While Ash is different from how he was in season one and they have changed the formula around from how it was in season one. The female trainer in the main group, like May and Dawn, do more than Misty did during her main group time. I still think that its a great show and I've been watching it since the beginning. Just see a couple of episodes and see how it feels to you then.
