I've known about this for a while and no, It doesn't mean the end of Spectacular Spider-Man. Greg's got a lot of side projects lined up in addition to his main work on the show. Please people, cut out the baseless fear mongering.

So Greg Weisman's word is baseless, then?

Well, if they don't even air the second season we can be glad that S1 didn't end on a cliffhanger and most stuff was wrapped up. Yeah this would mean that Harry WAS the Goblin, but it's better than nothing.

Well, I'm slightly releived. greg said his new job might allow him to continue Spider-Man. I know have hope now. If he's on Spider-Man till January he hasn't left right?

Why wouldn't it get aired? It's in production! There is a network!

And yes, there is a lot of baseless fear mongering going on here. All that is going on is that the show hasn't been renewed YET. That renewal may, and likely will, eventually come.

But starting this because Greg Weisman has a side gig, which is another SLG comic book btw, is just a little strange. Greg was working on the Gargoyles comics and a (now-defunct) Red Tornado comic book series as well as working on Spidey.

No this does not mean the end of SSM.

Greg is doing 2 comics for SLG, limited series I believe. But they will not cut into his SSM time that much. Since Greg was writing Gargoyles and Gargoyles Bad Guys before season 1 aired and continues to do so should say a lot on how he manages his time.

I will be picking up the comics because it sounds interesting to me and I like enough of Weisman's work to give them a try.

I can't give you numbers. They still haven't picked us up for Season Three, and today we had a farewell party for the majority of the crew (that is the majority that still remains -- many have already been laid off). This includes our character designer Sean "Cheeks" Galloway. After a few more weeks, we'll be down to myself, Vic Cook and our post-production team. We're hoping when we get a pick-up that we'll be able to bring the whole crew back more or less intact, but we already know that a few individuals on our staff already have new jobs and probably will not be coming back. Vic and I and our post-team are on until early January. One would hope we'd get the pick-up by then, but if it doesn't come soon I'll HAVE to look for a new job. Preferably a new job that will allow me to come back and do Spidey if/when (probably WHEN not if) it's picked up. But beggars can't be choosers, you know, and I have a mortgage to pay and kids, dogs and a cat to feed.
By the way, after losing all our pets over the last year, we have two new (not young but new) Basset Hounds, Murray and Hermione, and a new cat (Emmy).

I've added the bolding for emphasis. The key point here is that Greg Weisman and Victor Cook are both safe until at least early January. That's over three months away, plenty of time for the show to get a pick-up. So please, just chill.

And for those who wish to see Greg's response in it's original context...

Reminds me, I still have to find a place that has the Gargoyles SLG TPBs.

Yeah, looking over it there still is time for S3 to get picked up. S2 will probably attract the people who'll order S3 be picked up when it airs. If it doesn't already get picked up before then.

The only thing that could be better is Weisman working on season 2 of Wolverine and the X-men.

Does this mean we won't see Mysterio and Tinkerer?

Why would it? They're both slated to appear in season 2, which will be airing early in the new year I believe. Greg is just working on a couple of side projects for SLG, that's all. As I've said before, Spectacular Spider-Man is in no immediate danger.

Technically we've already seen them.

Technically we've already seen them.

In civilian clothes!*

Do you know how long we've had to wait for Justice League to do that?

Yes, I know Tinkerer doesn't have a costume per se.

Do you know how long we've had to wait for Justice League to do that?

But JL was an entirely different show based on Heroes from a different company. Batman stories are usually about Batman, Superman is about Superman, that's how DC usually works. However Spider-man is about Peter Parker as much as, if not more than, Spider-man. So we're going to see more civilian stuff in there.

It also helps that the writers want to introduce most of the villains before they becoming Supervillains.

The Plaid-like design is his original costume, isn't it?
