A much lighter issue than others, this one actually has Robin as the protagonist, and most of the story is from his point of view. While, like last issue, this one doesn't also have a lot going on, it's more relaxed and has some funny moments, along with good guest spots by Poison Ivy and Killer Moth.
Robin, already grumpy due to missing out on a chance to capture Ivy, is having a worse day at school. We really get to see Dick's school life, with its cute moments. And while everyone else is in class, Dick notices suspicious activities outside, and with Batman busy battling Ivy, Robin tries to stop them himself. Unlike what the cover and synopsis suggest, Killer Moth is not a threat, and is still the same loveable loser we saw in "Team Penguin". His milequoast dialogue also provides for some good giggles. Overall, there was some good writing here.
Jones' art and Beatty's inks cannot be praised more. All the characters are excellently drawn, each with their own characteristics. Special mentions go to Killer Moth's clumsy, whimsical nature and actions, and Poison Ivy's slightly more seductive and flirtatious poses, which indicates her character's growing up and becoming more of her "femme fatale" self. My only minor complaint was Dick's teacher, whose model looked pretty weird.
Overall, a very solid issue. I cannot wait for the final issue!
