I remember when they made a Pac-Land game, a game that was based on and looked like the old Pac-Man cartoons.

I wonder why Nintendo never made a game based on the Super Mario Bros. cartoons and one based on the live-action Super Mario Bros. movie?

It's because the movie and cartoons were horrible and Miyamoto probbably wouldn't have standed for the Mario video games to be tarnished like that.

They made a Street Fighter movie game-I don't see how that's different.

No way will this ever happen. Nintendo openly mocks the Mario movie on many an occassion in Nintendo Power. So do you REALLY think they'd make a movie out of it?

I was thinking of a "Super Mario Land" game based on the cartoons, not to be confused with the Gameboy games.

Actually before SML came out I thought they'd make a game like that.

I assume you meant a game-but no, probably not.

I also seriously doubt that Nintendo would do this. While I didn't think that the movie was that bad, it also wasn't that good either. No way Nintendo would make a game based on that movie. I barely remember the cartoon show, but I don't think it was at the same level of quality as the movie was. Still, I doubt that they would make a video game based on the cartoon that was made back in the late 80s or early 90s at this point.

Not to be rude or anything, but I think that you've answered your own question here.

They did.

It's called "Hotel Mario"

Let's not wonder... Let's just be glad they didn't. ;)

Amen to that. It wasn't made because Nintendo probably didn't want to make a game of a movie that's based off of a game...

Digitized insanity starring digital Van Damme. On arcade and Saturn.

There's actually a game based on the original anime movie, too, one of those interactive FMV games. It had a little fighting thrown in, but was mostly scenes from the anime.

Yeah. You know, I really wanted the Saturn version of this. I think I won it on Ebay once but the seller failed to ship it to me. Maybe. Heck I might have it in my game collection and it's just one of the hundreds I never played.

It was made with the same tech they used on MK right?

Sort of. It used digitized actors for the sprites, at least. Like it says in your Wikipedia link the arcade version was pretty awful, but Capcom retooled the Saturn version and made it halfway decent.

It's on ScrewAttack's Top 10 Worst Fighters (http://www.gametrailers.com/player/20506.html), tied with Street Fighter EX 3 at #4. They did try doing a game based on SatAM (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Pnsn0_w6K9Q), but it didn't feel like Sonic.

What was that about?

The princess invited Mario and Luigi over for a picnic (eh Luigi?) and it quickly devolves into Bowser and his "Koopalings" (the Koopa Kids) running Mario and Luigi through seven hotels to save the kidnapped princess.

In a nutshell, it was the cartoon series mixed with Wand of Gamelon and Faces of Evil.

I think if a movie game was made it could work-I'm debating if it would be a fighter or a platformer.
