Last Time: Ichigo & company take a week off while AS shows the Aqua Teen movie... AGAIN! But the week before that, Ichigo fought the snake guy, which ended which of course won by pulling a move that everyother character, including Uryu, Orihime, & Chad who had no real role in the episode, noticed. Then the snake guy pulls a Starscream, which the main villain responds by pulling Megatron, wether it's G1 or Animated depends if the snake guy is still alive. Rukia and the apparently weak Mod Souls encounter the rogue Soul Reaper who then leaves to protect his "new master" and prepares to fight Ichigo.

Nice to see you here tonight, the last episode's talkback was the most pathetic thread ever.
SHOWTIME!
So Ichigo decided to do a recap as well.

*sigh* Good Soul Reaper vs. Bad Soul Reaper. Just like old times.
They should hire a contractor when this battle is over. That entry hall looks like a Ripley's museum.
O captain my captain.

As stated before, I had the same idea for a fan character with the same background, but mine would act more like Dinobot from Beast Wars.

I wonder if their insurance covers damage between people who have super powers and engage in powerful fights.

Hey it's one of those things, what were they called? "Hellow?" "Hallow?"

Pull my finger, boy.
With two cute girls and a big fricking sword? Sorry, pal, this scab Soul Reaper job's too cushy.
I have more power in my little finger that you have in your whole body.

I look away from the screen, and we're suddenly in flashback mode. I was liking the swordfight. Get back to killing eachother!

'If I die I can see my captain again.'
Dude, if you die your memory gets wiped when you're reincarnated; you won't remember your captain and chances are you won't be reincarnated as someone who knows his reincarnation.
Really sticky the rules of the universe when your writing.

I expected the baddies to disappear, not stay to watch the house burn down. Heh.

Oh no the mansion burned down! Where are they going to live now a cave? Some random fancy mansion in the middle of nowhere?
I found the flashbacks nice but a bit dragged for some reason. This filler arc actually does interest me but I just hate how slow it goes.

Kon was going to call Rukia flat chested before she stomped him. This is one the few instances that he deserved it... kinda. Anyway, the mansion is in ruins, the heroes seem to be winning, and Cloud is far more annoying then Ririn. This flashback was lame. The only thing saving it is newly appointed Captain Kenpachi. He is a bloodthirsty psychopath, but he does have a philosophical side. He tried to teach Ichinose something of independence, but Ichinose was far too stubborn and angry to accept the truth. Captain Kenpachi can be nice. He is just a demon due to his desire for fun fights. I honestly cannot blame him for wanting that. Besides, there are far worse Soul Reapers than him, y'know.

I'm not really liking this Soul Reaper, he acts like a sheep, always following someone. Zaraki wasn't too far off the mark with that ivy line. I have a feeling the main Bount will betray him, but that feeling comes from watching one Naruto filler too many.
So Urahara's group once again arrives to bail out Ichigo and the others. Orihime & Chad didn't really do much, so I have no complaints about them not having that much screentime. Uryu is freed yet again, how much longer until his next abduction? And the Bounts should find a real estate agent, maybe a nice place in the suburbs.

I'm pretty sure the snake guy is dead. He's not in the opening.

Snake Way isn't on the border between this world and the next, it's in heaven.

Why can all the people see the hallow?

So, how come they never show the face of the old captain? It's getting kind of annoying.

They're called Hollows - because they are missing their souls/hearts (i.e. why they have big holes in them). Regular spirits are called Wholes and Rukia actually explained this in Ep 1 or 2, IIRC - complete with her extremely bad (in a very funny way) artwork to go with it :p.
I think the reason all the people can see the Hollows in this episode is a) they didn't - they just knew something big and bad was chasing them, b) some of them could see what was going on because they had higher than normal spirtual pressure, c) the Bounts can see Hollows as well as Soul Reapers (but I think the question was about the villagers, not the Bounts), d) it's filler - there are a lot of amusing holes in this plots arcs .
Now my question is, so the desert that is seemingly on the edge of the Soul Society is actually an entrance/exit to the real works and the exit also seems to be located in a desert in China???!!! . Does this mean if you take a different route out of Soul Society you'll land in Arizona?
Just kidding on the last comment. Anyway, while the desert exit idea is interesting idea to toss into the show it is probably not a canon situation due to this being filler ;) .

There are not going to show his face due to the fact that he has yet to appear in the manga. You can't honestly expect a filler to reveal that type of information, can you?

I'm not sure about the rest of the people, but the little boy that was almost eaten by the hollow was actually just a soul (he had that broken chain on his chest)...
I felt a bit bad for Ichinose, but I think that Kenpachi was right in telling Ichinose what his weakness is (Kenpachi's not a bad guy, really,he just loves a good fight)....it's not that surprising that Ichinose wouldn't listen though (seeing as Kenpachi killed the former Squad 11 Captan, whom he admired)....

The previous captain may be revealed when Captain Kenpachi's past is flushed out. He still has important details that have only been hinted at. Example: the original Yachiru; the only person Captain Kenpachi ever respected. I hope we get to see something relating to those events in future chapters.

Tite Kubo has stated that he hasn't planned an ending for Bleach at this point, so even if the anime team asked Kubo about the former captain, he himself couldn't be sure that he'd never have him appear in the manga.

Ok, first off, interesting ep, although I think they could have shortend the flashback part some.
The fight with Kariya (sp?) was funny as hell, since he basically "fingered" Ichigo into submission (forgive my bad pun). The rescue was fun (although predictible), but my question is where are the other "outsiders" (Renji, Ganjo, medic soul reaper whose name escapes me right now.)

I kind of disagree here, I think the heroes ran (as surely as the Black Knights did in Gaess) because they knew they were out matched with injured with them. The way the Bounts were just chilling looking at an expensive bonfire was not how I would picture someone who lost a fight. And since watching this series (haven't seen beyond this, so no spoilers please) I have had Kenpachi pegged as someone who wasn't just a blood lusted fool craving the next battle, but someone who actually follows some sort of code, which is why he wouldn't fight dejected-soul-reaper-whose-name-escapes-me. the line about ivy was very pointed and well versed.
Of course, said soul reaper either forgets that right away, or just embraces it, not too sure.

Really great episode,
I'm still happy that dumb brat Ririn got her bashing which was sweet:D.
Ichinose is awesome with his awesome killing technique:D & great backstory of him on how he first joined the Bounts which he's only being manipulated of course, maybe.
I love Ururu:anime: who's the cute strong little girl that kicks butt especially when she thrashed Ichigo at the training:eek:.
Man, Jin is so powerful but pulls the "join me" formula like all villains like Shredder,Vegeta,Freeza.etc
Nova's power was interesting/awesome which he's my favorite awesome filler character.
Yoruichi rocks who's my favorite kickbutt Bleach girl ever:D.

Stupid Comedic scenes of the Mod Souls... Still Not Funny.
Ichigo Refusing The Bounts: Oh Yeah like we didn't see THAT coming. Seriously Ichigo you should probably show more initative when they're standing around blabbing though Ichigo getting owned by Kariya shows... how stupid Ichigo is for not trying to take it to Bankai by this point.
The whole ending of the mansion setting fire our heroes leaving: kind of felt rushed. I mean really how many times are we going to have to see Kisuke's group bailing out Ichigo and friends since they can't really do much against the baddies? (Then again besides getting Ichigo out Yorouchi dosen't do much. Seriously they need to showcase her battle potential more then they have in these fillers). Also rushed was the whole handling of Yoshindo: I guess Uryuu's trustworthy but just picking her up while waiting for explanations dosen't really sit well with me.
I will say though that the scenes with Maki in this one were good. First off his battle with Ichigo was actually pretty decent. Way more style then we've seen in some of the actual canon swod fights thinking about it though once again besides powering up Ichigo can't really do any effective battle strategy. I also liked too the handling of Maki's flashback, right after Kairya wanted in on the action. This fills in the holes of what happend after Maki left Spirit world and why he joined with Kariya's group, and we get the hinting that Maki has a weakness for needing to be around powerful men in order to feel happy. Seriously the whole infaturated comment with Kariaya was kind of creepy. I still like the subplot though if only because it's unlike and ties down to a manga plot point that could of been expanded on more (and it makes sense he'd speak to Tousen in the flashback since we've seen Tosen dosen't care for Kenpachi in the actual storyline). So despite some negative qualities from other portions of the ep Maki's plot makes this one pretty decent. Of course the question is now where will the arc go: Well I know where and Kairaya seems to know where but I guess the viewers will have to take the let's wait and see approach.
