I liked the Alfred from the movies, but I have to say Efrem Zimbalist Jr. did an amazing job in TAS. Go animated series! :)

Micheal Gough, who played Alfred in the four Batman films, is the greatest! Sure, he may not have worked on the animated series, but he's still the greatest Alfred! So polite, insightful, humourous and dependable. He's like everyone's Grandfather - couldn't you just hug him?

I'd have to agree. He's the guy I always associate with when I think about Alfred, so I try and think of him as a bit younger. It's hard to choose between animated Alfred's and the live ones, augh!

I was ready to vote for Michael Gough, but at the last minute I went with Efrem Zimbalist Jr. He is just awesome in BTAS, etc. Everything about his Alfred is just cool. I love the witty jabs at Bruce and Dick. Anyone who votes for Clive Revill will have to face the wrath of The Penguin! :p

I was torn between Michael Gough and Efrem Zimbalist Jr. as well, but in the end, I flipped a coin (shout out to harvey dent) and Efrem won.

Michael Gough is the only actor in the Bat-films that has been CONSISTANTLY COOL since his first appearance in '89. It was tough for me to choose Zimbalist over him, but his voice is just perfect.
Gough is a close second. Nice to see Onstar appreciates him, too. :-)

PS - Why was Clive Revill even USED on those four or five episodes? Was he actually chosen prior to Efrem, or just a temporary replacement?

I voted for Efrem Zimbalist Jr., he did an excellent job voicing Alfred.
(I always wondered why they used Clive Revill myself, Tim. He was horrible! )

Gough. Firm British actor with a warm soft approach to the character - just as I imagined. I love the scene in Batman at Bruce's party where he glides through the throng collecting glasses with consumate skill!

Yeah, it's a toss up for me between Gough and Zimbalist. I finally came down on Zimbalist's side, basically because he adds such a dry and amused tone to the character.

I picked Efrem Zimbalist Jr. because, in my opinion, he was the best voice ever for the whole Batman continuity. Granted, Michael Gough is a VERY close second, Efrem Zimbalist Jr. will always be my favorite.
One line I will always remember from him, is when Barbara is in the Batcave for the first time with Bruce standing right besides her, and Alfred see this, he confidently says, "Mrs. Gordon, I, uh, see you've discovered our little secret." Alfred pauses...then says, " Yes, I admit it, I am Batman."
LOL! :p I will never forget this quote ever, because it still keeps me laughing everytime I hear that in Efrem Zimbalist Jr.'s voice.

I went with Gough, IMO both Efrem and Gough are the best, but when it comes to all of Alfrad; Gough. Efrem does a voice (greatly), but Gough has to pull off full Alfred, which he does excellently.
