He hasn't had anymore hits because he's managed to not change his sound from traditional country to the pop stuff the radio stations eat up nowadays.
I dunno, Raye always had a pop edge to him in my opinion. Stuff like "Little Rock" was hardly traditional.
Right now, "Down the Road" by Kenny Chesney and Mac McAnally. I've been waiting for years to hear something written by McAnally on radio again, and not only do we get his top-notch writing, we get his singing too.

I doubt that's possible, considering he didn't record the first version until 1996. The Toby/Sting duet version was a #2 hit in late 1997—early 1998, while the solo version never touched the country charts. I know my country charts.

Five For Fighting is John Ondrasik. Most people (including fans) just call him by his real name.
And I do think a lot of people call Kid Rock 'Kid' for short, except for maybe his closest friends (Hank Williams, Jr. calls him Bobby, which comes from his real name, Robert.)

People call me Bobby because I was born a Robert and have always gone by Bobby.* Not Kid this, Five that, The Rock this, and definitely not The Artist Formerly Known as a Goofball Even Before He Replaced His Name with a Dang Symbol and Then Went Back to His Original Recording Name.
Right now, "Dark Horse" by Mila Mason. This song was previously a big pop hit in Canada in 1996 for a lady named Amanda Marshall, and Mila's cover followed a year later. The production and melody sound more like post-Urban Cowboy country-pop than anything else. This song was a #21 and I don't remember hearing this one on the radio, yet there are plenty of much lower-peaking songs from the late 1990s that I recall as if they were only a couple years old. There are #65s from this era that I recall more clearly than some Top 5 hits. There's even one Number One hit from that era that I have no recollection of whatsoever†, which is strange since it was a good song.
…Hey, who says this has to be just a list thread?
*They also call me other things that I can't repeat, but I'll not get in that.
†"Sittin' on Go" by Bryan White. I swear my local stations totally ignored it.

Gee, I wonder why. :-P I'm surprised that there're several from my state, Michigan.
And one of those Michigan country singers is Anita Cochran, whose duet with Steve Wariner ("What If I Said") I'm playing right now. This is a great song, but at the same time it's a bit of an oddball.Steve hadn't had a hit in nearly 4 years when this came out, and Anita had a couple mid-50s-peaking songs. Yet this ended up going to #1, and although it revived Steve's career for a spell, Anita couldn't get out of the 50s again. That, and five-minute ballads aren't usually the kind of songs that top the country charts.
