One of my favourite movies all time. Not sure if the bonus material is enough to warrant buying again when the anniversary addition was released only a couple of years back though.
Btw does anyone know what Disney's connection is to this movie? It was a paramount release wasn't it? Though I heard Burton designed the characters while working for Disney. They make a killing on merchandise over here in Japan.

TNBC was never a Paramount release. It was always Disney. However, it was originally released under Touchstone, which is like sub-company of Disney. Then after the movie became a cult hit, Disney decided to put it's logo on it.
I'll be getting the Blu-Ray next Tuesday....The Nightmare Before Christmas is one of my favorite movies, animated or otherwise....I love the music and songs, and the characters are interesting (especially Jack)...
it's always been a Disney property (under Touchstone),but until recently,it wasn't named as such...it's developed a major following in the US over the years, plus it's always been popular in Japan (hence its inclusion in all the Kingdom Hearts games...You know,if they make another "musical" level in a future game, like Atlantica was in KH2,I'm hoping they'll do it for Halloweentown)...

One question does the Blu-ray have exactly the same stuff as the 2-disc edition? Also can anyone give me the site that has the exact details of the contents? (Amazon doesn't really help me).
I really can't wait to get this, I love this me.I also always thought Tim Burton himself directed it and not just wrote it.

rry, that's right, It was Touchstone wasn't it. Disney owns that company? well that makes more sense then. Most people in Japan haven't seen the movie, they just know the character from the merchandise or the ride at Disneyland (which rules). Has anybody seen the 3-D version? I couldn't believe how good it was.

He didn't direct, but was pretty much running the show.

UltimateDisney has just posted their review for next week's Collector's Edition here (http://www.ultimatedisney.com/nightmarebeforechristmas.html). The author may not exactly like the film, but you'd be hard-pressed to find a more in-depth review of the DVD anywhere on the net.
I am so getting this.
Oh, and I Like Cynic, there is one significant reason to upgrade from the old DVD: the new release is anamorphically enhanced, meaning it's been enhanced to fit widescreen televisions. It also means that regardless of what size or shape television you're watching it on, this release'll have slightly better picture quality, since it no longer has to waste resolution on two black bars on the top and bottom.

I thought we had posted the press release for NBC on the News, but I can't seem to find it now. The short version to your question is yes, the Blu-ray has everything that the 2-disc SE has, plus one bonus feature. I pulled the PR from the Walt Disney Home Video site for the following:
DVD BONUS FEATURES:
• NEW! What’s This? Jack’s Haunted Mansion Holiday Tour – Viewers choose the way
they want to tour Disneyland’s Holiday Haunted Mansion. “On Track” explores a tricked-out
version of the Haunted Mansion, while “Off Track” reveals what went into creating all the
creepy fun.
• NEW! Tim Burton’s Original poem narrated by Christopher Lee – Tim Burton’s poem
that inspired the creation of the movie. Now, the original verse comes to creepy life as
performed by legendary actor Christopher.Lee.
• NEW! Film Commentary – commentary by producer and writer Tim Burton, director Henry
Selick and composer Danny Elfman.
• NEW Introduction To Frankenweenie! – A new un-cut version introduction by Tim Burton.
• The Making of Tim Burton’s The Nightmare Before Christmas - Go behind the scenes of
the very first full-length stop motion animated movie with the filmmakers.
• The Worlds of Tim Burton’s The Nightmare Before Christmas – Witness the creation of
the film’s richly imagined dreamscapes, including Halloween Town, Christmas Town and the
Real World.
• Deleted Scenes
• Storyboard to Film Comparison
• Original Theatrical Trailers and Posters
• PLUS Tim Burton’s Complete Short Film Vincent
EXCLUSIVE BLU-RAY BONUS FEATURE:
Includes all DVD Bonus Features, Plus:
• A Special Blu-ray Only Introduction by Tim Burton I'll be reviewing the Blu-ray disc for the News, so keep an eye out for it. The commentary track is labeled as new on the disc, although I don't know that it ever got a commentary track on earlier releases.

I've seen A Nightmare Before Christmas before... from what I can remember it was a decent film. There was one time they aired it on the Disney Channel and then I watched it in French class (which means I probably watched it for the second time with French audio and English subtitles). I don't see me buying this DVD, because I'm not a huge fan of it.

The original SE DVD had commentary by Henry Selick. So, what's new is the Burton and Elfman commentary.

One of the best Disney movies. One of my personal favorites and will be getting Blu-Ray. Possibly this but, I'm still unsure. :p
I've been watching my Blu-Ray copy today....the film looks and sounds amazing (I even noticed some background details I'd never seen before...like that a pair of siblings Jack visits have Disney character PJs...one has Mickey Mouse, and the other has Donald Duck)...
The Extras are pretty nice,too....I especially liked the "Haunted Mansion Holiday Tour" (I've only been to Walt Disney World's Haunted Mansion, and they don't have the "Holiday" version :( ....Maybe someday,I'll get to Disneyland)....
I also enjoyed the reading of Tim Burton's original poem by Christopher Lee....
All in all,I highly recommend the Blu-Ray if you have the player (I think the packaging on the regular DVD is awesome,though)...
