I have a lot of comics right now, and I need a new item to put my comics in. I need an item that can store up to 200-400 comics. If anyone can post a link or a place where I can order it, It would be greatly appreciated.

Well, it all depends on how you want to store the item. There's always short & long boxes (I believe long holds 300, short, I'm guessing by looking at the one in front of me) about 200. That's having them stand straight up, bagged and boarded.

I also have some magazine racks with comics in them. My ultimate goal is to display them standing straight up in these reacks, my entire collection, in my home stupdy. Someday. But anyway, the double-sized magazine racks hold about 50 comics, bagged and boarded.

I used to use a very oddly designed file cabinet, where there were 3 drawers to a row and there were about 8 or 9 rows. This was while I was very young, around 11/12-ish. My dad's work was throwing it out, so he brought it home and gave it to me. It worked for a few years, until my collection literally quadrupelled (or more) overnight.

That's when I moved to using boxes. And cardboard box I can find, I use. Didn't really make much difference back then.

So those are the methods I've known. Hope that helps.

Thanks, but can you name a specific product and/or a site where I can buy these items? If it helps, I want my comics standing straight up, covered and w/ boarding, that includes tpb's, and I want them facing me if possible. Thanks in advance for anyone that answers.

Check with some of your larger local comic book shops. If they don't have 'em, chances are they can order 'em. I have 'em myself, and they've lasted me since I've been collecting. And definitely get the long boxes if you have the space. I'm stuck with the short ones, and they start numbering up after awhile.

Yeah, these are standard issue items at any comic shop - just go in and ask them for comic boxes. But if you don't have a local comic shop, you can get them at Westfields online:

http://westfieldcomics.com/wow/order_main.html

They're listed as "comic boxes".

Thanks for helping out kid_flash and Clayface!:)

A couple of questions, what do these boxes look like? Can they hold comics that are bagged w/ cardboard? Also, on that site you gave me Clayface, do they accept American Express? And can you trust them with your products? I just want to know, because I want the best product to hold my comic books. Thanks in advance to anyone that answers my questions.

They're just plain old cardboard boxes, shaped to hold your comics - your comics stand upright in them, one behind the other, and they're about as wide as one comic.

Can they hold comics that are bagged w/ cardboard?

Yep, that's what they're designed for. They will only hold the standard size comics though. If you've got larger comics (ones that require magazine size bags and boards) you'll need a magazine box.

Also, on that site you gave me Clayface, do they accept American Express?

I'm not sure - take a look around and I'm sure you'll be able to find out.

And can you trust them with your products?

Trust who? The supplier or the item? You can trust both. The supplier is Westfield's Comics - a comic shop with a long history. And the item is fine for comics - its what a majority of all comic shop collectors use - like I said, basically its "standard issue" equipment at any comic shop.

When you said cardboard, does that mean that it can bend and tear fairly easily? Is it brownish colored?

It's a thick cardboard - you'd have to really be trying to tear it to do any damage. They're usually a white or slightly off-white color.

They're really REALLY durable. They may bend a bit (just the corners, no damage done to the comics), but the handles never tear (I have a few that are jam-packed, and I move 'em around all the time without any trouble).

These are the same boxes that you'd see back-issues sitting in at comic shops. Or the types of boxes you'd see comics sitting in at comic-book conventions. They're designed specifically to hold and protect comics - thus no need to worry about their durability. I've got all my comics in these types of boxes and have my entire life. I've made 4 or 5 moves from state to state and still have them in their original boxes that I bought years ago - they survived that many moves.

Thanks for the answers. So, they look just like long boxes? And one more question, what is the height of the box? Is it the same height as the comic books that are bagged w/ cardboard? Is it really big? I want something that I can put on a table or something so I don't have to go and reach down to the floor just to pick up a comic. Any pics of the item?

They are long boxes. That's what they're often referred to as.

Same height as a bagged, boarded comic.

Where do you usually put these "long boxes"? If you can find the measurements for me, I think that would help me find a place to find it. But if you can't, and the box turns out to be real long, do you have to put it on the floor? And do these boxes have a top cover or is it completely open? I'm sorry for asking all these questions, it's just hard for me since I can't find a pic of it anywhere. Hope this doesn't bug you guys too much.

LOL! I've never heard anyone ask so many questions about a box!

If you get the "small" comic boxes, they're 11 in. tall x 1 ft. 1.75 in long x 8 1/4 inches wide. The "long" boxes are about twice as long. You can see a pic of a short box here:
