It was horrible and served no real purpose. I was let down and it's what we call a "filler"

I posted quick little caption-like reviews on all the books I bought last week. All the Bat-titles (minus Azrael, natch ;) ) are included. It's under "Comics for 2/20/02" (http://forums.toonzone.net/showthread.php?s=&threadid=20548). I plan on making that a weekly thing, however I can't get this week's books until next Friday at the earliest. Being poor and in college does that to you. :(
But the general consensus of GK #26 was that most liked it. As a whole, the Bruce Wayne: Murder? storyline has been excellent. I definately reccomend you get it in the single issues, or, if you can't spend the money, in trade format.
And welcome to the boards!

Yeah, persoanlly, I thought this was on eof the best issues of the entire storyline. If you like character driven story, rather than action, this is the issue for you. Excellent charaterization of all the bat-family, and incredibly interesting insite into their personalities and what makes them tick. The scene with Alfred in the cave was probably one of the coolest things I've seen in the Batman comics in a while, and the conversation between Dick and Tim was incredible. And I really loved the back-up story in this one too. You can't go wrong picking this one up, IMO.

What did Leslie do to continue the storyline? Nothing. She served no purpose other than to fill an issue of Gotham Knights, slap a cross-over tag on and force people to buy it. I pick this title up anyway, but if I was just buying this storyline then I would have been throwing my money away. It did not advance the story.

GK 26 was great. Very important characterization. A GREAT issue, one that shows how the Batfamily FEELS about Bruce.

That's been beat into the ground. We already know how they feel and we've known it for sometime. This issue didn't even do that. It was just a filler. Very dissapointing coming from Devin Grayson.

See, much of the action has happened off-panel. The murder. The escape. Most of the "important" events aren't even shown. This storyline is all about the little character moments. And this issue is filled with them. So it does advance the story. It just doesn't show any big action sequences. Tho, none of the books have (well, Nightwing, Robin, & BoP, but those sequences weren't a part of Murder?). It's all been police procedural and talking heads. And I love it. Big action does not a good story make.

Batgirl was the first cross-over book in this story and it served a purpose. The murder weapon was found among other things. The last Gotham Knights did nothing to further the plot.

Well, most of us, I think, consider character development a huge part of the plot. Thus, this issue was a big one.

This issue was the best of the whole storyline!! I urge all even halfway fans of GK to get it! the characterization in it was great and I think Leslie's appearance was an important one. It showed that she still cared for Bruce, but has definitely had her doubts.

I gotta agree that GK #26 ruled out of all the MURDERER? tie-ins. Plot advancement? Nope, but it was chock-full of incredibly deep characterization that Devin Grayson specializes in.
If there wasn't any character interaction and it was just written to further the plot (although I'll always say character interaction greatly STRENGTHENS and already great plot), I wouldn't buy any issues of the story. Heck, if that's the way comics were, I wouldn't even buy comics. Characters first, plot second.
