Beginning today gamers may find details of "The Heavy" Update being disclosed via http://steamgames.com/tf2/heavy/. The site will reveal new information and screenshots each day, as well as a special installment to the "Meet the Team" series of video shorts.
"The Heavy" update is the largest update to Team Fortress 2 since it was first released as part of The Orange Box last October. In addition to offering new unlockable weapons, achievements, "The Heavy" update also includes a brand new gameplay mode and a number of new maps.
The rollout culminates next Tuesday, August 19 when the update will be made available to all owners of Team Fortress 2.
To give all gamers a chance to check out the new gameplay introduced in "The Heavy" update, Valve will be running a Team Fortress 2 Free Weekend via Steam, a leading online platform for the delivery and management of PC games. The Free Weekend is open to gamers the world over and scheduled to begin Friday, August 22 at 11 am PDT.More info here. (http://www.teamfortress.com/)
In summary:
This site (http://steamgames.com/tf2/heavy/) will update once a day (excluding weekend days) with detailed info about the big update until the day it comes out, next Tuesday.
New community map: cp_steel (http://steamgames.com/tf2/heavy/cp_steel.htm). (First update)
Standard stuff: 35 Heavy achievements, along with 3 new unlockable Heavy weapons.
New game mode, along with 5 new maps for it.
New Payload map, reportedly much more open than Goldrush.
The Free Weekend, which will be completely open to anyone and will give new players a chance to try all of this new crap out, will start Friday August 22 at 11 pm PDT.
New "Meet the Team" movie.Flippin' amazing. I can only hope the week ahead can go FAST.
By the way, I've played on cp_steel before and it's pretty good. There's a bunch of different ways to play, so it should be one of the more dynamic maps available.
What say you, TF2 players of TZ? Are you excited or what? :D

Well I have been planning on buying/playing TF2 on the PC, Since well I am tired of the console being neglected. I wonder what the Heavy will have to do to get his weapons, I'm looking foward to the new pics of the achievements actually.
Though the one thing I am interested is which Team mate will get the next video. We only have Pyro, Medic and Spy left.

Guess I have to start playing more now. Glad to see a new payload map; I guess we're not getting a hunted map even if Meet The Sniper hinted at it.
Heavy is my second favorite class but I'm not much for achievements. I hope the Demoman is next to get his stuff.

Time to start practicing my spy skills.
Oh yes..

Valve said they where doing a "different" video in one of the Team Fortress 2 blog posts I believe. As for if they do what they say, who knows.

Punch more, babies. (http://steamgames.com/tf2/heavy/kgb.htm)
Nothing is as hilarious as a Heavy punching his way to victory.

I was actually expecting him to get Brass Knuckles or something of the like. You know like in Penny Arcade, where Gabe upgrade from punching was his bare knuckles to brass knuckles.

Heavy's hands are gonna be huge with boxing gloves on them. I mean look at them without the gloves, they're bigger than his head!

Heh, that's great. The fists were already weapons made to embarrass, but now they'll have big goofy boxing gloves. Even though it's slower, the payoff in crit seconds sounds pretty good.
If you look at the filenames of the achievement pictures, it gives a general idea of what the actual achievement will entail. Some notable ones:
1. Konspicuous Konsumption: Eat sandwiches? A new taunt, perhaps?
2. Show Trial: Killer taunt. This one is obvious, but the fist taunt("Pow, haha!") will now kill or at least do damage. I just wonder how he will do it with the gloves on...
3. Supreme Soviet, Soviet Union, and more: "Grind"??? The weird appearence of the word "Grind" leaves me to believe it's our first clue into one of the Heavies other new weapons.

I thought that sandwich one was a reference to the "Meet the Scout" in which the Scout after beating the heavy ate his sandwich. Maybe something that involves punishing a scout character.

Meet Natascha. (http://steamgames.com/tf2/heavy/natascha.htm)
That is a seriously cool looking gun, while it also sounds pretty useful.
It just so happens that this gun was predicted on the Steam forums, along with the boxing gloves. Following that, the Heavy's shotgun alt will be...a sandwich. Oh boy...

That seems like a good trade off, it'll promote teamwork and ruin those pesky Pyro and Scout rushes that happen at the last minute of battle on a cp or payload map. I was expecting something grander though, I mean this is the Heavy.

That must be one hella delicious sandwich to bring into the heat of battle.

Well from what I heard, it is supposed to heal like 100 health for every consumption. I think it supposed to be use so the heavy doesn't have to rely on the medic.

Ninja update: Achievements. (http://steamgames.com/tf2/heavy/kgb.htm)
We're definitely getting a killing taunt and, like it or not, the Heavy will be getting a Sandvich. Yep, pretty much confirmed now.
Rasputin (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Grigori_Rasputin) is the best Achievement reference ever.

I knew "Don't Touch Sandvich" had something to do with the Scouts.
So another killing taunt, guess the Pyro little fire Hadoken is popular to use then?

Arena mode. (http://steamgames.com/tf2/heavy/arena.htm)
Hmm...I'll certainly give it a shot, but I don't really have high hopes. It sounds like Sudden Death rounds with a single capture point that opens up after a set amount of time.
At any rate, tomorrow is the big day! The revelation of the last weapon/snack, the "Meet the Team" movie, and the big update itself! I can't wait to start cranking out Achievements again.

I never thought that grass and gray boulders would look so refreshing. Mountains people! Mountains!
Still though, CP without a respawn doesn't sound all that fun. It looks like Valve is trying to take a chapter from Counter-Strikes to try and boost the amount of players. But jokes on them, Counter-Stike players are afraid of change!

And here is the Sandvich, along with a "Meet the Sandvich" video. (http://steamgames.com/tf2/heavy/sandvich.htm)
Ok, I have to say that's my favorite "Meet the Blank" video now. Sorry Sniper, but nomnomnoms will always beat ya in terms of hilarity. As for the "weapon" I'll take the shotgun, but I'm a Soldier/Medic/Pyro machine so eh.

But now we finally have our sandvich confirmation. Now where's the update itself?!

:D
Great; I'm probably not going to play Heavy when everyone else is but it's a good time to be a Medic or a Sniper.

Just got the new weapons in a "completely legitimate way". Those boxing gloves take up like 1/3rd of the screen.

For those of you interested, the free weekend starts today. You only have to download Steam to get in on the action!
For the 360 owners, it was recently announced that the updates would be coming in the form of DLC sometime this year.

I wonder if I have to add Vavle Time for this statement. Though I thought they said they wouldn't give the console owners updates until all 9 classes have them.
