Both shows star a young, naive child.
Both shows are named after their main character.
Both shows and main characters are named after food.
Both main characters have unexplained whereabouts of their parents.
Both main characters have few [if any] friends their age, and hang out with adults.
Both main characters live with two of these adults.
Both shows occasionally use claymation and puppetry for special effects.
Both shows involve food in a big role [candy on Flapjack].
Both shows are on Cartoon Network. :p
Both shows have yet to start their second seasons.
Both shows are the only non-canceled, non-syndicated, and non-foreign comedy shows on Cartoon Network.
Both shows have food sellers as characters [Gazpacho, Peppermint Larry]
Both shows did episodes centered on the food sellers telling jokes [Pun Times, Gazpacho Stands Up].
Does anybody have more comparisons?

Both are better than my gym partners a monkey.
Both outlived re aimater.
Both still manage more credibility science wise than Johnny test.

I like Chowder better.At least he doesn't seem special like Pancake...or Flapjack.W/e.

Both outlived re aimater.
If you mean Re-Animated, aka Out of Jimmy's Head, that series had 1 and a half seasons and has made more episodes than Flapjack has made so far. Just sayin'.

LOLz! Both seem rather "special", don't they. In Flapjack's case, that would be short-trolley special.

I have noticed the simularaties between the two. I think that it must be a coincidence.

Or is it a conspiracy...

God I hate these threads....
I think it's just conincidence...since the ideas have been in the works for quite awhile.

Dang, it must be a conspiracy then. 'Cause goodness knows there aren't any other shows with those features. :anime:
Both main characters have unexplained whereabouts of their parents.
In that regard, using this logic then both shows are a ripoff of Disney's Yin Yang Yo!, since we don't know anything about their parents either.

Could it be that we have reached the end of television as we know it? Are there any more unique premises out there to build a program around?
Back in 1899, the US Patent Office issued a statement to the effect of "everything that can be invented has been invented."
Are we seeing this with TV?

Many of the creative teams behind Spongebob, Billy and Mandy and Lazlo work on both of these shows, so that's the deal.

You're overreacting.
There's still plenty of ideas that haven't been made into television series. It's just that television itself is going through, as I remember some comedian putting it, "a mid-life crisis".

There are MILLIONS of ideas and styles that have yet to be tried, as Veemon Josh just said. Unfortunately, network executives think that using proven-to-be-successful ideas is better than taking risks on new stuff. Let's face it: new ideas are risky. Anyway, due to the lack of executives on the internet, you can find tons of webshows that are unique from anything else. Have you ever seen ANYTHING like this stuff?

This is getting WAY off-topic, though. Anyway, I just thought of another comparison. Both shows are cartoons! :D

That's not credible, there's been tons of things that have been invented since then. You used one of those things to make that post. We're not running out of anything, and even if we did there's still opportunities for original programming. Look at Chowder and Flapjack, obviously from a very basic perspective they're very similar but they're definately not. You can put a new spin on any idea, infact all stories are based off of 3 basic premises and we still haven't run out of good programming yet.

I doubt anyone would want to rip something off of Yin Yang Yo!. I'm not sure if I'm the only one, but it's not like that show is a complete masterpiece. I credit it as one of the worst cartoons on TV as of current. If people copy from other people, they tend to use ideas that have been used in SUCCESSFUL cartoons.

I didn't mean that literally. It was a joke. I was trying to point out how flimsy that logic was.
Anyway, I don't think Yin Yang Yo! is all that bad, personally; I've seen much, much worse.

You forgot to mention that both shows' respective mentors have a huge schnoz and blue skin...kinda like mutant Smurfs.

Well, technically, K'nuckles isn't blue all over. It's just his head that's blue. I think that's supposed to be facial hair.

That's funny, I did refer to Mung as a mutated Smurf once. Captain K'Nuckles has facial hair all over his face.

even if it was real facial hair, shouldn't it LOOK like a beard, y'know like all bouncy and what not?? It doesn't look anything like facial hair. And even if it was, why would it be blue! And why would his nose be orange!
