Here is a panel with Australian politicians talking about Fallout 3:

The level of stupid misinformation on this panel is just staggering. They have no idea what the thing they are in favor of banning is like, but are willing to support banning it anyway. Also, apparently there are a lot of games that I don't know about that simulate rape (okay, Custers Revenge, but that's more than 20 years old), games are no different than snuff films and violent games will make you violent.
The conversation started off in a promising direction, asking if Australia should have a +18 rating, but went quickly to hell. Most of the panel seemed not realize Australia had a rating system at all.
Another thing that was weird was when the woman asked the gamer how many hours a day he intended to play the game? As if chastising him for wasting his time.
And I don't want to single out just Australia, here. You hear some of the same criticisms in other countries like the US, too.
