What songs are you embarrased to admit that you like?
Here's a recent selection: http://youtube.com/watch?v=HRqOjhNN4hQ
(And don't worry. It was uploaded by the record company.)
Yup. That's Sneaker Night by Vanessa Hudgens. I know I should hate that song. I know! But...I like it. I don't know why, but I do. :(

I like the songs "Rock Your Body" and "What Goes Around" by Justin Timberlake.
Yeah, I said Justin Timberlake.
Yes, I know he's a former member of N*Sync, and his music is synthoid pop ear-candy for the teenage masses who hang dreamy Tiger Beat posters on their bedroom walls, and I'm well aware of the "wardrobe malfunction" incident, but I admit I do like those 2 songs by him.

Justin Timberlake? That's nothing. A lot of critics have come to accept him as sort of a new Michael Jackson who has come into his own with some slight modicum of artistic credibility.
I have a far darker secret: I really kind of like the song "See You Again" (I think that's what it's called) by Miley Cyrus. I heard it on the radio and I thought it was a new t.A.T.u. song or something, which is something I wouldn't feel too guilty about, because it can't possibly be THAT uncool to kinda-like something that was made by Russian lesbians. But... it wasn't. It was Miley Cyrus.
And whoever wrote that song for her, well, what can I say? They know their stuff. It's a really good tune.

That's okay. I've liked some of the songs he's done with Timbaland.
I really kind of like the song "See You Again" (I think that's what it's called) by Miley Cyrus.
I'm guilty of that as well. Including that new song of hers, 7 Things (http://youtube.com/watch?v=Hr0Wv5DJhuk).

I should be ashamed to like things like "Ice, Ice, Baby," ABBA, the Bee Gees, some Kid Rock songs including "Cowboy," but I'm not.
I am ashamed that I actually like a couple of Limp Bizkit ("Break Stuff"), Nickelback ("Reock Star") and Creed("Arms Wide Open") songs, since I make fun of those bands all the time.

I have a few ABBA songs on my computer playlist. And their version of "Mamma Mia!" by the A*TEENS tends to play in the back of my head whenever I see a movie poster for Mamma Mia!
Oh yeah...I also have a CD single of Hampsterdance.

Limp Bizkit
I was a fan back in middle school. I even bought their CDs. :(

I like a lot of stuff from Celine Dion and Madonna, although I'll be the first to admit I only like the songs, not the artists themselves.

I threw the disc out years ago, but at one time I had a CD featuring the original version of "Macarena" AND seven remixes of it.
That's the only song I can think of that I was embarassed liking.
Everything I like nowadays, I don't care if they're loathed, or a boyband or whatever. If I like it, I like it. I don't care what others think about my musical tastes, to be honest.

Oh where to begin. There's the entire soundtrack of Transformers: The Movie, the theme of Enterprise and pretty much anything from the eighties, especially if it's ridiculously dated. My taste in music is pretty abysmal.

I like Kid Rock's "Cowboy" and ABBA's "Take a Chance on Me" as well. On the subject of liking the works rather than the artists themselves, put me down for "Rollin'" by Limp Bizkit and "La Isla Bonita ("Not a real place") by Madonna.

As long as we're being honest, I must confess that "Who's That Girl?" by Madonna is one of my favorite songs.
I also enjoy the music of John Tesh. I'm serious.

I love that song D:
There's alot of Marilyn Manson on my ipod, and considering the fact that I don't look like the type who would ever listen to him, it's kind of weird/ embarrassing when people are like 'Sam what is this?'
I'm also embarrassed to admit that I've got some Miley Cyrus on there too[I detest Hannah Montana]...along with TONS of Japanese music.
Also:
Ricky Martin
Bee Gees
Every song you could ever consider an 'oldie'
Every now and then, I'll pop in my old Linkin Park cd for nostalgia's sake. Normally I'd hate that type of music, but I listened to it so much in eighth grade that I pretty much love it by default.
I mostly listen to metal and rock, but I listen to the Yael Naim song "New Soul" whenever I need a little cheering up.
Yeah, I said Justin Timberlake.Like some have already said, that really is nothing. Old Guy liking a Vanessa Hudgens song is quite embrassing and something you wouldnt tell anyone. :p But liking a JT song, your fine.
But yeah im not really one to be embrassaed about listening to songs i like. I mean I had Shakira's Hips dont lie as a ringtone for a while. But if I had to be embrassed about something I guess it would be liking some of Hilary Duff's songs, not to mention some of Michele Branch's and that song a thousand miles.

Definitely. To most normal people I know, I'm embarassed to admit liking a lot of Japanese songs from anime shows.

Not much off the top of my head. "Ice Ice Baby" I guess would be one. Obviously not a great or even good song, but it's still sorta etched in my brain since I remember when it was first out and such a big deal at school. Haha!!
"Soak Up the Sun" by Sheryl Crow, because she's one I have never enjoyed listening to. But for some reason, I really like that song. On the same note, her duet with Kid Rock called "Picture" I actually like as well, even though I think Rock is a worthless excuse for a "singer."
Otherwise, I'm not ashamed for liking the majority of what I like, and I say that as someone who has albums by Spice Girls and Hilary Duff in his collection. For me, it's kind of like listing guilty pleasure movies. Why should I feel guilty about something I like? :)

I second that.
Also about the "never gonna give you up song" I'm guilty of that as well. However, I love whenever it is used as humor like that episode of the daily show a few days ago or Family Guy

Does not compute. Queen has been scientifically proven to be awesome. Even the Flash Gordon song. Heck, even the Highlander theme.

Geez, it all depends on what you consider a bad song. I have a lot of albums that people would say are pretty cheesy.
Both of 2gether's albums. 2gether was a mock boy band created for an MTV back in early 2000 if anyone remembers. One of the members died of a disease, so the group was done in pretty quickly. They had some funny songs like Calculus and The Hardest Part of Breaking Up (Is Getting Back Your Stuff).
I bought several Pokemon and Disney soundtracks years ago.
The only country music I buy is from Brad Paisley.
What's worst than listening to current music that is assumed to be a fad is listening to older music for parents that was supposed to be a fad. I do have Fleetwood Mac and ABBA albums.
I listen to a lot of eighties rock, you know, hair metal and glam rock. I still currently think Bon Jovi's 'Always' and 'Bed of Roses' are some of the best love songs I've ever heard. Still listen to The Darkness "Permission to Land".
And finally I have both of Natasha Beddingfield's albums. She really grew on me.
So I reallly have no business criticizing anyone's musical tastes. Unless they like Avril Lavigne or Paris Hilton. Then it's okay to rip into them. Absolutely.

So after I discovered music outside of the Christian soft pop my parents forced on me, I listened around the radio to see what I liked. Rather annoyingly, every single time I really liked something, it ALWAYS turned out to be by Madonna. Really embarrassing.
Someone then told me it's okay to like the music of someone you might not particularly admire as a person. Example: you can enjoy "Thriller" without approving of sleeping with kids.
I'm sorry, but the range is just nuts. Whoever wrote her songs for her was a genius. I thought "La Isla Bonita" was by Shakira but apparently Madonna can even do Latin well. (Then what the heck is Shakira famous for?)
As for comparing Timberlake to Jackson: I don't see it at all. He just talks for three minutes about how he loves himself and they set beats around it. IT'S NOT EVEN MUSIC.

I'm not ashamed in the slightest for being a Backstreet Boys fan. I bought the new CD the day it came out. I also have some Hilary Duff, Cheetah Girls, and Spice Girls in my collection. However, those are about the only pop I listen to. Guilty pleasures? Yes. Am I embarrassed about that? Not at all.

Nothing. I don't listen to crap music (Whatever your definition is), so I wouldn't be embarrassed by anything I listen to.
I frequently get people saying 'What the hell are you listening to?' and 'Never heard of it', but rarely a 'Eww, they suck!' type of comment.

Well, my friends think I ought to be embarrassed about my love of 1940s swing music like Glenn Miller, the Dorsey Brothers, Dinah Shore, Dorris Day, Bing Crosby, Johnny Mercer, the Andrews Sisters and too many others to name right now. Seriously, though, how often do you hear songs about spitting in Hitler's face? And only the Andrews Sisters could sing about prostitution and still remain classy (look up "Rum and Coca Cola", LOL). That stuff is awesome.
I also like a lot of girly music like Michelle Branch (<3), Vanessa Carlton, Sara Bareilles, Anna Nalick and others but that doesn't embarrass me. I like Christian music enough to go to the Creation Festival in Pennsylvania every summer and rock out to Newsboys, Toby Mac, Relient K, Switchfoot and more, but that doesn't embarrass me either.
What I am embarrassed about is the Radio Disney crap I listened to when I was 14/15 like A*Teens, Jump 5, Dream Street, Aaron Carter, Hilary Duff and all the other stuff that the Disney machine churned out in the early 2000s. Sometimes I look for those songs on in Internet, just for nostalgia. Sometimes I get all misty-eyed listening to the old Radio Disney songs and thinking about the good ol' days.
Wait. No I don't.:D

While I don't listen to that stuff regularly, I do have a good appreciation for it because my dad has a lot of that music in his collection. I sort of grew up on it, so I can at least appreciate it. That said, I really dig Glenn Miller. "In the Mood" is a terrific piece of music. :)

Come on, man. So you don't listen to anything that someone with different tastes would give you grief about, even if your not actually embarrassed by it? The definition of "crap" varies from person to person. I'm not embarrassed by anything I listen to for example, but there's a lot on my ipod I'm sure is not everyone's cup of tea. Perhaps I do listen to crap. Who knows. But who cares, it's what I enjoy.
Either way, what's your definition of "crap" music?

Either way, what's your definition of "crap" music?Crap music would be music I consider 'bad'. Regardless of how popular it is, if I don't like it, I don't listen to it. Simple as that. Honestly, I would admit to listen to anything if I liked it. For instance, I like older Bon Jovi, and some hair metal songs. I don't consider it crap, and am not embarrassed to listen to it, because I like it. Yeah, I've gotten some weird looks from some of the stuff I listen to, but I like it so it doesn't really bother me.
I'm sure there is music other people would give me grief about, but it wouldn't make me embarrassed. As you said, there's a lot on my ipod that probably wouldn't be everyone's cup of tea.
If I like it, I don't consider it crap. I think that's how most people feel about their favorite music.

Cool. Glad you cleared that up. My initial thought was that your opinion was "Everything I listen to is great and everything I don't listen to is crap." Now I see your opinion pretty much matches mine. There's a lot of music I don't like, but I wouldn't necessarily call it crap. Different strokes.
How long have people been using "crap" as an adjective before an noun? Is this an internet thing or are people talking like that in real life now?
