Tonight at 8pm on CBS, we will see the premiere of the 4th installment of Survivor, featuring 16 new castaways marooned in French Polynesia (on Nuku Hiva, largest of the 12 Marquesas islands in the South Pacific). One of the most innovative features of this show is that it's never the same. The rules of the game are being perpetually rearranged, and Survivor: Marquesas is no exception. For the first time, the players will have to secure all their own food and water. Previous votes no longer count against a player in the event of a tie at tribal council (a point that majorly contributed to the strategies of the teams in the last 2 editions). The new contest regulations are sure to keep the contestants on their toes, as no one was more shocked about the tribe roster rearrangement in Survivor: Africa than the castaways themselves.

To better acquaint yourself with the new tribes, check out their profiles at http://www.cbs.com/primetime/survivor4/

A great start! My favorite tribe has become Maraamu, with my favorite survivor being Hunter. He's some kinda superhero.

Peter made a big mistake by separating himself from the tribe with those comments about not being comfortable with everyone else. Even the old fat lady got to stay. And everyone knows the first bunch of challenges are physical.

Did anyone else notice Elisabeth Filarski in the reebokwomen.com commercial right after the immunity challenge? She is my lady.

I was shocked about Peter being voted off, and by his comments. How stupid can you be? He seemed like such a people pleaser at first and then went and screwed himself over. I expected Patricia for sure. Those guys really hurt themselves with that decision.

Hunter is definitely a good leader, but I see him being kind of a jerk.

It's funny how you already can see which role people are going to fill. Kathy the hardworking bellyacher. Sarah the pretty do nothing, possibly a gripe gut. Hunter, of course, the great white hunter and leader, but not a jerk like Frank was.

First off, Peter - good riddance. I mean, how annoying was that guy? I don't really know anything about yoga or any of that new age type stuff, but I can tell you that my character IS NOT defined by my...gag..."holes". Second, maybe it's a girl thing, but OMG what was up with that girl Kelly(?) and her boobs. For gods sake, bring a t-shirt! My fav so far is Gina, she seems cool and down-to-earth, but I haven't chosen my favorite person to hate yet, I'm thinking Kelly, but maybe I am just blinded by her enormous chest.

I thought it was pretty inconsiderate of her to not help with the rowing when they were approaching the island. The lazy people never last; resentment against them grows from day 1. The old fat lady will hopefully go in the early stretch of physical challenges. If not, the rest of the castaways have to be careful. Everyone forgets about the old ladies toward the end because they have someone else to hate. In Survivor 3, the old lady got 2nd place. In Survivor 2, SHE WON. Don't let this one fly under the radar!

If they keep Sarah around...it won't be for too long...especially if she makes it to the merger.

I see her as a "safety" that most people might keep around, if she doesn't screw up too bad, and then vote off when things get down to it. And she does have those votes against her now (as does Patricia).

Sarah has to be the most annoying one there. Tough to tell whether she'll be the next to go or the old lady, but as long as they go soon I'll be happy. I don't know enough about all the different members of the tribes to have an opinion on each, but I know that if Hunter wins I won't be complaining.
