www.cnn.com reports:

The pugilistic divas [Tonya Harding & Amy Fisher] will face off on "Celebrity Boxing," a Fox special scheduled to air March 13. The network is billing the bout as "the battle of the bad girls."

Also on the special, former "Brady Bunch" star Barry Williams will be pitted against Danny Bonaduce, once part of TV's "Partridge Family."

The network said the fights will be real, each lasting three rounds.

Harding gained notoriety when, in January 1994, the figure-skating champ was involved in a bungled plot hatched by her ex-husband to disable her Olympics rival Nancy Kerrigan. Harding pleaded guilty to conspiracy.

Amy Fisher made headlines as "the Long Island Lolita" when, as a teen-ager having an affair with auto mechanic Joey Buttafuoco, she shot and wounded his wife in 1992. Fisher served almost seven years in prison.

A third celebrity-boxing pairing has yet to be announced, Fox said.

Man...I feel dirty just reading this...another Emmy for FOX...

I like how they reward ignorant criminals and ridiculed sitcom stars. Those are the real heroes.

What the hell are the Fox execs on?

Last week, they had an eating contest! An eating contest!

This is just a joke. When I heard it announced last night, I just couldn't hold back my disgust. Then again, this is what I'm actually starting to expect from FOX, the same network that cancelled ACTION and aired WHO WANTS TO MARRY A MILLIONAIRE in the same year. And that's very sad, to be expecting the worst from a network, but that's all they've been givien us. The some good treatment of 24 almost seems like a fluke compared to the complete dis that Futurama is getting. If FOX takes 24 off the air before it ends...oh...they will feel my wrath.

Just when I thought FOX hit the bottom of the sleaze pit with the whole "Who Wants to Marry a Millionare?" thing - along comes some idiot with a shovel.

I hope the writers at The Daily Show drub the heck out of this...

Hmm, I thing a better name for this show would be "Un-Foxy Boxing". And to think, Mike Tyson can't find a state to fight in  .

I heard about this this morning, and was hoping it was only a rumor. Sadly no I guess. Wouldn't you think these "celebreties" would want to escape such bad publicity? Why cause themselves to sink any lower?

I think I've come to think of FOX as the home for absolutely insane shows that other networks just wouldn't touch ;) What next, child midgets throwing turkeys at each other in lady bug costumes?

Fox is pathetic. The "Glutton Bowl"? "Who Wants to Marry a Multi-Millionaire"? This is another new low.

Fox has a few decent shows, but has been mainly trash recently.

Wait, this is just a joke? Hmm, I didn't even bat an eye when I first read it. I guess that says something about the Fox network's reputation, or lack of.

I'm not sure about this, but I think when JH said it's "a joke" he meant it's pathertic that this is happening, not that it's a practical joke. Might be wrong though.

I'm surprised there's not mud involved  . Someone's getting paid way too much money to come up with this crap.

God, Fox is acting like a bunch of buffons in fake tuxes and is sinking down to their Child-molester-like, god-awful reality show roots. I mean, the only reason they are doing this is because they claim animated sitcoms like "Futurama" are failing when, in reality, they are actually hits and practical gods being pushed around by a bunch of grave robbers who force us to watch crap only THEY like against our free will.

I'll bet if some drunken Fox fatcat came to my door asking me what I would like to see on their network, shows like "Family Guy" or shows like what was described, I would laugh in his face and tell him the first option is the best. If he even thinks about contradicting me, I would zip over here and organize a riot at News Corp's headquarters.

On a survey, my best remarks would be for tooncoms. For the regular programs like "Malcom in the Middle" and "24", I would say "eh, it's what everyone does." And if they ask about reality shows (with "Temptation Island", "Cops", and "America's Most Wanted" as exceptions) I would say, "Are you kidding me? Forget those."

BTW, last Thursday, fox aired a "Glutton Bowl" where a bunch of fat idiots were in a race of who would eat the fastest. Doesn't that tell you anything about how Fox makes lousy decisions?

"Family Guy" 2 kewl! Kill reality on Fox.

Exactly how many drugs do you have to do before this seems like a good idea? Who wants to marry a millionaire, temptation island, glutton bowl and now this.... and then they cancel futurama, family guy, and the tick... How exactly do they choose their programs? Do they just throw a dart at a board or do they survey the stupidest americans in the country for ideas? I really want to know what their decision making process is.

What is this, Reality Celebrity Deathmatch?! Wow, I can't wait for the next bouts- Loraina Bobbit vs. Susan Smith, O.J. Simpson vs. P. Diddy (the Johnny Cochrane Invitational), Rae Caruth (formerly of the Carolina Panthers and the man who plotted his pregnant girlfriend's murder) vs. Ray Lewis (of the Baltimore Ravens and the Atlanta stabbings)... classic....

When this came up on the newswires, all my co-workers had to stop and ponder the immense trash factor of this show... and they're all jaded, world-weary journalists!

Coming after seeing the Glutton Bowl commertial of the fat guy spewing on himself, I've got to say that Fox has no depths that it won't sink to.

Update courtesy of www.zap2it.com:

Paula Jones will replace Amy Fisher ("The Long Island Lolita" ) in the ring next Wednesday (March 13) against ice skater Tonya Harding.

In addition, rapper Vanilla Ice (AKA Rob Van Winkle) will be putting on his gloves for a match, although his opponent has not yet been determined. Other fighters for the night include "The Partridge Family's" Danny Bonaduce, who will square off against Barry Williams, aka Greg Brady of "The Brady Bunch."

Paula Jones made national headlines in 1994 when the Little Rock, Ark., native accused then U.S. President Bill Clinton of sexual harassment. The suit was settled out of court. Last year, Jones again made tabloid headlines when she posed nude for Penthouse magazine.

Fisher recently backed out of the fight for personal reasons, according to FOX. "Celebrity Boxing" will air Wednesday, March 13 at 9 p.m.

Is it just me, or do all rappers have weird names like that? Anyway, I hope Vanilla Ice fights M.C. Hammer.

Please Hammer, don't hurt 'em!

Glad I wasn't the only one who thought that Hammer would be a worthy Ice opponent.

When life imitates Celebrity Deathmatch, then it's time to worry.

Apparently, the NY State parole board had initially given Fisher permission to participate in this travesty; however, it was ultimately decided that participating in a brawl-for-money program would be contrary to the terms of her parole and revoked its consent.
