That every comic company has a demonic entity or devil type character? Anyone know?

Because it can lead to an interesting Charachter driven story, of various types. From Ghost Rider being a Living Spirit of Vengeance trying to do right, to Spawn being the reluctant leader of the Devil's personal Army, to the Darkness being tormented by not being able to score. It's an idea that allows for many dynamic's, which is why it's so common.

And, in that same vein, there's the opposite end of the spectrum with DC's Zauriel character (felt the need to plug one of my faves).
Anyway...demonic characters are there because they're really easy to make evil. I mean, with most villains you need to come up with a fresh motivation. With demonic characters..."Well, I'm from Hell" kinda takes care of that.
As for demonic characters who are GOOD GUYS....I dunno. That's just whacked.

There are demons for the same reasons there are villians. It's the ultimate form of evil.

And let's not forget the Hellblazer storyline where John Constine sells his soul to 3 demons to beat cancer.
An excellent story I just got the TPB a few days ago.
As for Demons and the Devils in Comics, what good is an protaginist without a major antaginist around to drive him or her nuts? Besides it just makes things more interesting.
