This may be the closest we'll ever get to a Spider-Man:TAS series done by Timm, but this one issue of Tangled Web was hilarious, and the art by Darwyn Cooke (who also did this week's spectacular Catwoman #4) is just great, and really boosted the comedy content. Sure, the episode had the typical "Archie"-esque plot where Peter accidently makes two dates at the same time (although when you see why, you'll laugh out loud - the thought balloons are priceless). JJJ was a definte highlight of the issue, being his old self and hilarious. This is a great story which I recommend to everyone.

Howdy all,
My reaction to Tangled Web #12 (12? I thought it was 11...)
Heh.
Hee-hee-hee-hee-hee-hee.
HaHAhaHAHAhaHAhAHa.

Hee-hee-hee-ha-ha-ha-har-har-har.
I bought this issue purely because of Cooke's name on it, and was not disappointed. A wonderful hybrid of old-timey Stan-Lee-esque Spider-Man and the classic romance comics of old, all done in quasi-BTAS style with an ending that directly violates the original Comics Code Authority in a bunch of ways. What's not to like?
The thought bubbles throughout are terrific. I dug Peter's and JJJ's when his wife is in the bathroom.
Speaking of our favorite Marvel newspaper magnate, I really dig the take on JJJ here. Plenty of his trademark tyrantism going on, but his closing scene with the gofer (whose name is escaping me ENTIRELY right now) was quite a surprise, and even kind of touching. And then there's that amazing closing panel of JJJ's face saying, "Drink up."
Cooke also draws the comic babes with much baberific babetudinous babe-ness, even if the blonde looks supsiciously like Holly from Catwoman. If he did the art for the Zatanna one-shot being penned by Paul Dini, I'd be a happy, happy, happy man.
So, in all, it's an entertaining bit of fluff worth every penny I paid for it, and one of the most outright enjoyable comics in a long while.
Heh.
