First Nsync and Star Wars, and now Britney and Marvel? Ick.

Why would they adapt this? This comic's been dead since about the early 80s. And as I recall, Dazzler wasn't so much a pop star as a disco star, though I guess they could easily change that around if they wanted to. Still, I'm confident this will stay in the "rumor" bin. Marvel has a lot of properties that would translate better than that, so I don't get why they'd be working on something like this.

Damn it.

If DAZZLER, one of the lamest heroes EVER, gets a movie...then here's what I want by 2004.

AVENGERS
BATMAN
FANTASTIC FOUR
GREEN LANTERN
JUSTICE LEAGUE
POWERS
THE PUNISHER
RISING STARS
THE SPECTRE
SUPERMAN
WATCHMEN
WONDER WOMAN
YOUNG JUSTICE

Why do studios INSIST on making movies out of second-rate characters. I mean...IRON FIST? Why not IRON MAN? Why is IRON MAN waiting till IRON FIST is done?

And instead of Live-Action Batman, we get:

BIRDS OF PREY. Well, that's what I wanted to see

Oh yes, and we're getting DEADMAN, or so it would seem. Wow. What classic character do we get next? The Creeper?

Oh, please let this rumor be false.

I bet it is, heck - I'm almost sure of it. The recent hype around Britney's movie Crossraods is likely a driving force behind this, too. I, too, am a bit dissapointed that alot of 2nd tier and 3rd tier characters are getting movies when the top characters are still sidelined. I mean..Iron Fist over Iron Man? Geeze...how cool would a movie like Iron Man be?

I like how everyone assumes Britney is movie poison because Crossroads sucked. Hell, she came up with the story, so of course it wasn't 4-star material. But who's to say she wouldn't contribute a decent performance in a well-written movie? She's very used to acting, because that's all she does when there's a camera in the room.

If she's used to acting why does she do it so badly? I haven't seen the movie, but it got the worst rating on rottemtomatos.com that i've ever seen (including battlefield earth).

I've heard Croosroads stunk to but Term has a point - if you want to see Britney as a real actress track down one of her DVD's with her guest spots on SNL - she did a great job on those and there were extremely funny.

This movie has more good reviews that Battlefeild: Earth. I believe B:E had two good reviews out of 60, or around there.

I have no desire to ever see Crossroads but I didn't think Battlefield Earth was terrible, heck I even own the DVD. Granted a lot could have been better but that could be said about a lot of movies. If you want to see a truly bad movie look up a film called "Sleepy Hollow High" - I mocked it so much that I took the time to do a new plot and started working on a re-write, just to get it up to some level of respectability.

Did you read my message or just glance at it and reply? The movie sucking has nothing to do with her acting ability. jjwspider has an excellent point, she was pretty versatile on both of her SNL appearances.

Me and Karva believe the Britney Spears SNL to be the worst SNL of all time.

THE WORST.

The sheer agony and pain presented from it was undeniable torture. When we heard she was returning for a second spot, we yelled "NOOOWWW THEY TELL US!" and shot ourselves.

Well, actually we didn't. The screen faded out before we did and Porky Pig said That's All Folks over the sound of the gunshot.

Eyecandy.

It is amazing how some movies are made over others and it makes you scratch your head. I was reading a post on Ain't It Cool regarding an Adam Strange & a Batman project. When the topic of bringing a Batman movie(the Michael Keaton Batman) to the big screen was proposed to Hollywood, the responses were ridiculous. Sorry, I can't remember the link right now. All I ask is how on earth these people get to be VP's or Presidents and not have a god damn clue to what is going on. When the movie was pitched to a studio, the response was something to the effect of why make a Batman movie about the show in the 70s?

Oh my head

Here's that link

'Tis true.

But, Teve Torbes ranks right up there with Britney. I personally think they tied as the worst SNL hosts.

The reason Iron Fist is going before Iron Man is because, they were able to get a good Base going for it. Whereas at the same time, they were waiting for Tom Cruise to give up on his asperations towards Iron man. When they finally were able to get it away from his development company they were able to get Joss Whedon. But he's being forced to do a Sci-Fi series for FOX before they'll let him do the movie. So until he get's that new show of his for next season rolling at a respectable pace, we won't see anymore movement on Iron Man. This same sort of thing keep's happening wiht the more respectable properties. Fantastic FOur has been pushed back from start date repeatedly cuz the Director FOX is intent on using is wasting time on Scooby Doo, and now that it's done(I'm pretty sure it is at least, shouldn't take more than a few day's to shoot a crap fest like it will be.) he's apparantly decided to take a vacation.(Can you blame him, he did have to work with the Prinze of Darkness.) Eventaully FOX will either pull their head's out of their [explentive deleted] es and find a real director, or he'll be ready to start working on a story idea.

UNfortunately, lesser charachter's the studio will usually just pick a random director for. Hence you see Iron FIst before Iron Man, It's the [explentive deleted] up way Hollywood works.

Hey, now, there were some Dazzler stories I actually LIKED. The Marvel Graphic Novel story was pretty darn good, and some of the issues of the comic book that came out after ward were better than the rest of the series as well. And even if Spears doesn't do a Dazzler movie (and I would much rather see that than Crossroads!), I would like to see the comic book come back, but only if they can make it as good as or better than the Graphic Novel story.

The Dazzler is a good character. While her own series may not have been the best, she played an important part in the rise of the X-Men book to the ultra-popular title it is today. Many people get the impression that she went around fighting bad guys in her Madonna birthday suit. When she was with the X-Men, this wasn't always the case. She was one of the lighter personalities on the team, and added flavour to the book without overpowering anyone else. One of the best role players the X-Men could have, IMO.

However, she had essentially been replaced by Jubilee, so her character became redundant in later issues.

I thought Britney did a great job her first time on SNL. She made fun of her own breasts, for God's sake! She had some funny skits. Her second time. Eh...

My point is not that I don't want to see Britney. I just don't want to see DAZZLER, when we COULD see GREEN HORNET, THE SHADOW, BATMAN...something DECENT!

True, it isn't fair for Britney to be judged just by one movie.... but then again she's tried to act also in her music video of "Oops I did it again", pretty poor, and she's had time to get better, has she? Nope.

Why's everyone looking over good actors for someone with an already large fanbase? Oh. Now that's a very desperate and weak way to get money.

What makes me ANGRY (as usual!) is that Spears is considered over hard working TRAINED actors who's having their employment comprimised by a manufactured pop star.

Her inclusion is to make people who already earn lots of money, make MORE money. No artistic integrity at all.

What irritates me is this trend is showing no sign of a healthy demise.

Are movies bosses and Record companies that powerful - or are people just that stupid to want this sort of potential casting?

Hey, you guys are dissing the character that first got me into reading comics, so I've got to defend.

You guys know Daniel Rand's story don't you? Lost his parent in the mystical realm of Kun Lun, was taught martial arts and reached the pinnacle of perfection. He even attained the power of the Iron Fist.

I've gotta say I could see it being made into a pretty decent movie. Especially with all the Jackie Chan/Crouching Tiger popularity. We might even get an appearance by Luke Cage. I just hope they don't wire fu it out too much.

That being said, I could see it being a crappy movie, also. In the vein of Punisher.

Second tier? SECOND TIER!!!!!?????? Well I guess he actually is second tier, but still a cool character.

And Britney wasn't the worst guest ever, that would be reserved for any sports star or Rudy Guiliani.

That's about as funny as Shaq picking up a basketball, shooting, and getting a brick, and saying "I was never very good at basketball." in the movie STEEL.

Which isn't funny.

NOT FUNNY AT ALL.

Sheesh... I think she gave everything that was to be expected from someone who has a week to prepare for a production of material written by someone else. She delivered her lines beautifully, she had precise comic timing, and her talent and versatility as an entertainer came through, at least on my TV. Think about how many of you could pull off an episode of SNL.

A terrific highlight of the show, tragically cut from syndication: Chris Parnell's "My Date With Britney Spears" song during Weekend Update. This is available as an mp3. If you don't already have it, GET IT. And make sure you have his intro before the song starts.

When I saw her SNL appearance I have to say that I was pleasantly surprised. I was expecting a very bad performance, but Britney Spears was much better than I could have imagined, and though she isn't the best actress, she's certainly better than many people. As long as she works with a good script I would have nothing against seeing her acting again. Trust me, there are worse actors out there.

Alright, I'll weigh in here...

I aired the 1st Britney SNL....

She wasn't bad...she didn't laugh when there were times lesser hosts have. She had a number of non-"Britney Spears interacting with..." skits...there are some hosts where EVERY skit they are in they play themslves. I HATE THAT!

She can act....generally she doesn't...doesn't mean she can't...means she doesn't. <EXAMPLE> I can shave my legs. I do not, cause I'm a guy, you'll never see me shaving my legs, but I'll get very angry if you say I can't shave my legs.</EXAMPLE>

I am skeptical, but I will not judge untill the film comes out. Generally I am anoyed by the hype surrounding her as a singer, but I have never seen her act, or try to as the case may be, and her singing carreer seems to finally be rolling back a little into the abyss from wence it came. In other words I'll give anyone, even Britney Spears, one chance.
On the other topic, I'm glad they are making movies of less popular heroes. Batman and Superman have four movies to their name each, and more are still on the way despite fans revulsion toward the later installments of both franchises. Bring on the movies about characters that don't nesesarily have the most commercial appeal. I thought Blade was great, and I want more movies about guys (and gals) like that. Dazzler didn't really have her own comic past the seventies, but she was an essential member of the X-Men I grew up with. She even made it into the X-Men arcade game (the original Ninja Turtles-esque one, not Children of the Atom).

Ok, I admit it, Britney Spears can most likely shave her legs too. Anyways back to the point. :p

Shaving your legs is one thing, acting is another. See acting requires talent, that's where she strikes out. :D

She can't act, she can't sing and she can't stop saying that she's not a little girl, which is getting very annoying...

Uhhh...Did Dazzler appear in any COmic's before the Uncanny X-Men? Becuase I read an issue from 1980 last night that said DEBUT of the Dazzler. How could she have had a seriesn in the 70's if she debuted in 1980?

P.S. I odubt this is real, or else I would have heard somethign about it from C2F. The closest I've seen there about this has been Digital Concept Gallery Submission's of her as Dazzler, nothing about her actually playing the part though.
