This is the talkback thread for NY Times on Lucas' Animated Return to "Star Wars: The Clone Wars" (http://news.toonzone.net/article.php?ID=24627).

That was an interesting read on how the CGI series came to be. FOX passed on this and Cartoon Network was lukewarm on it. It took WB to convince them to pick it up.

And the episodes cost around $750,000-$1,000,000 to make.

I'm just a little confused. Is the series being coproduced with Cartoon Network?? If so, does that mean this is a Cartoon Network Original??

...No, I think it's most like the deal with the Warner Bros. cartoons they aired like Justice League and Teen Titans: made for Cartoon Network, but not an original.

In the article, it mentions how the show is being licensed to WB and CN. So, its like a third-party acquisition.
