So hold on, it's gone from Japan, to France, to the UK (it's intended country)...and is now in the US?! Why do I get the feeling some idiot saw 'Bedford' and thought it meant the American one?

Wow...good job, FedEx. Has that ever happened before?

Not as long as I've had to have stuff shipped by them, no. Usually once it reaches Stanstead it's sent to a major FedEx depot and by the next weekday is out for delivery around 8am. From the looks of things here, some idiot wasn't doing their job right, saw 'Bedford' and sent it out to America (which after using Google, the American Bedford is in the same state as Memphis).
So either this is a massive cock up that delays me getting what I ordered or more hopefully a system error and it is in fact on its way to the correct address.
If it has made an uneeded detour, I certainly hope they're not planning to slap extra costs on me.

It doesn't surprise me all that much. There was one wrong digit in my Zip code which caused a package of mine to fly across the US, twice. FedEx is at least, better at tracking stuff than the US Post Office, they don't tell you anything. The only thing it should cost you is time.
