Didn't find anything in it particularly funny, but compared to the Bolt trailer it's the very model of subtlety and restraint.

While the movie itself looks pretty good, that trailer looks terrible. It just seems so much more cheaply-made than the animation itself...

Really? I'd hate to see you read the book. This trailer looks rediculously optomistic and adventurous happy in comparison.
Speaking of the book, I gather from the vibes the trailer gives off, it's going to be quite a contrast just looking at how gutsy Desperaux is. He is brave in comparison to the other mice, but he's a lover, not a fighter. That and the gerneral tone goinhg from action/comedy/romance as opposed to the mildly dark/romantic (in the old sense of the word) tone.

Of course, I know a movie can't always be judged by the book it's based on. After all, Hunckback was wonderful and had next to nothing in common with it's original source. Likewise, you can't fully judge a film by the trailer, either.
I'll just have to wait and see.

Oh. Also, as for the designs, they threw me off at first, but looking at the trailer again, I'm starting to like it. It does greatly remind me of the book illustrations (especially the rat, Roscuro and all the humans look spot on). I love that shot into Desperaux's eyes early in the trailer, it's very nice.

Did you see that chief guy at the beginning?This looks an emo version of Ratatouille with a little Dumbo (note the ears) thrown in for a bit of comedy.I am kind of getting tired of these young,rebellious yet good-natured heros.

It's a good story ususally,but so overly rehashed it's kind of forgettable.:sweat:

I don't find anything particularly wrong with the film based on the trailer, I just feel like the style is a bit too...

It's sorta like comparing Sly Cooper to Shadow of the Colossus. Would I rather play as a character that can leap from rooftop to rooftop, travel on wires, paraglide across the sky, or play as a character that follows all the properties of gravity, easily falls down, and runs like the average man? (Even though I like both games, don't take this as a statement of hate towards Colossus)

It just doesn't have that "fun cartoony" feeling to it. It's like An American Tail if it were in CGI and had a slightly darker sense to it.

I guess it meant that the director wasn't psychically there at the production.

That cute little baby mouse at beginning got me thinking:Aww,here's a story of a cute little girl mouse with a cute little girl voice trying to be brave in a world where everyone else is timid.Ironically,it's a boy mouse (who grows up looking quite ugly) and he has a voice of a man in his mid-20's to early 30's.:shrug:

That has become the staple of animation though. Pixar, as good as they are, do it all the time. Their main male character is just itching to be turned into a plushie, but he sounds like Brad Pitt or somebody. Nowadays Jerry Mouse would have the voice of Jon Stewart.
