Was watching the new Chowder this past Thursday and it was in WS for some reason. I personally thought it was cool.
Anybody else notice or maybe have an idea why?

Yeah, I noticed. It was pretty nice, the way it looked like a movie. Even though I didn't enjoy the episode, it effect and presentation was nice. And who knows? Maybe if more people enjoyed it, they'll have more shows in widescreen.

Hey, maybe CN is actually deciding not to do stretch-o-vision for HD!!
probably not, since idt Chowder is HD, but a good sign i guess

IIRC, there have been cases in recent years of cartoon shows being animated in widescreen in anticipation of HD (though, until now, I only knew of the WB animated shows doing this). So, CN may have been showing Chowder like this as a way of testing how it'll look after the switch.

I noticed, it looked really nice. So when exactly is CN planning to switch to Hi-Def, and do you need to buy the channel in H-D, or does it come that way.

That depends on your cable/satellite provider. Some charge extra for the HD channels, some don't. CN/AS HD is already available on DirecTV, I believe. I'm not sure if any other providers have it yet, though.

Oh, cuz I have iO, and I think they make us pay extra for HD Channels. I could be wrong, who knows.

Yeah, it depends.
I have some HD channels that come as part of the basic HD package with Cox, but not all of them.

I just hope the Chowder DVD's currently in the works include the widescreen episodes.

"So long as a customer subscribes to the service package that has the SD channel he/she will receive the HD channel for no additional cost."
EDIT: Then again, iO doesn't even have CN HD

iO doesn't charge extra for HD channels all you need is an HD box( you get it for free at a cablevision provider) and you have HD channels but sadly CN isn't in HD but you get the full picture of the things they air
Hopefully CN will be in real HD soon
