I can understand people making a lot of those selections. No artist can be loved by every listener. If everyone is enjoying something that you can't enjoy, it gets on the nerves because of all the talk surrounding you. There's no escape unless you hide in the woods. That list didn't mean much though, it wasn't like a survey full of votes for the most overrated rock star.
I enjoy maybe a few Beatles songs, but most have no effect on me. I prefer the Monkees actually, though I'm not a big fan of them either.
I'm surprised no readers mentioned Aerosmith. I mean, I'm a huge fan, but someone has got to be annoyed by their success. Several friends of mine won't let me play Aerosmith in the car.
Someone I'd like to mention that is not on that list, well he's not really a rock star, Eminem. I can understand his appeal, but I've never been able to enjoy his music.

That reasoning behind REM's listing was terrible.
Though my favorite was this one:
I know that many many people worship at the guitar altar of Jimi Hendrix, but I just think he sounds like a hot mess, especially on ''The Star Spangled Banner.''That's called missing the point.
It was mostly mindless bashing of well established and influential bands/artists. Some without any good reasons. Like the Eric Clapton one. I can see not liking his music, but that wasn't a critique at all.

I would be annoyed, but its just some anonymous nobodies posting nonsensical ramblings about bands they dislike. Its when "actual" writers sit down and bash mega-popular acts just for the sake of getting a reaction that irks me.

What a stupid list. Those were just the most famous so called "rock heroes" and there beside them were sentences that said; "Sorry, I just don't get them." I thought they would go down into slightly more cult artists that certain people worship and that people (looking to see what the fuss is about) check out and go "yuck, that's not what I was expecting."
...Like Tom Waits (I looooove Tom Waits)
or even Radiohead (loooove Radiohead)
or maybe PJ Harvey (just ordered some of her albums off Amazon. Stupid, crappy music stores around here.)
The Grateful Dead was the only one on that list I expected to be there
Oh, and it reminded me a bit of that MST3K segment in the Monster A-Go-Go epp:
Gypsy- Tom, I just don't get you.
Tom- Nobody does. I'm the wind baby!
