Monday's Draft (http://forums.toonzone.net/showthread.php?t=212794) was not kind to ECW. The brand earned only one draft pick with a John Morrison & Miz victory which brought the silver and black United States Champion Matt Hardy from SmackDown. Hardy brings his title with him, but ECW lost both CM Punk and ECW Champion Kane to RAW over the course of the night. Night of Champions will go on as scheduled this Sunday, but how will these moves impact the future of ECW?!

June 24, 2008

Last Tuesday, ECW Champion Kane and his Night of Champions challenger Big Show met in a heated exchange. The two titans aligned long enough to deliver a double-chokeslam to Mark Henry, but the World's Strongest Man got even when he attacked Kane on SmackDown. What's in store for the ECW Champion this week? And how will ECW be impacted now that Kane and his title are no longer within the brand?

Speaking of new roster additions, United States Champion Matt Hardy arrived in the Land of the Extreme at the 2008 Draft. How will he shake things up on Tuesday nights? Do any ECW Superstars already have their eyes set on his title?

Also last Tuesday, in an outrageously entertaining bout, Hornswoggle defeated Armando Estrada, pulling out all the stops, as well as the marbles, squirt guns, and a devious brawler from Belfast who loves to fight. After Estrada botched yet another opportunity to earn his contract from newly-appointed ECW General Manager Theodore Long, have the chances finally run out for the former GM?

Putting his own exclamation point on the newest chapter of a long standing rivalry, Mr. Money in the Bank CM Punk defeated WWE Tag Team Champion John Morrison. Could Morrison and his partner The Miz suffer a similar fate at Night of Championships in their title match against Finlay and Hornswoggle? Or will the Shaman of Sexy and the self-proclaimed Chick Magnet hold on to their coveted gold?

Tuesday night’s electrifying newcomer, Evan Bourne, took another step closer to finding his ECW identity, earning his first singles victory over Matt Striker. But the real fireworks began after the bell when Mike Knox assaulted Bourne in retaliation for his loss last week in tag team action. How will the Bourne find retribution for this brutal sneak attack?

Find out the answers to all of these questions and more on the next ECW on Sci Fi, Tuesday at 10/9 CT.

A little bit of odd booking tonight with Henry winning a non-title match. He's also inserted into the ECW title match this week as well.

Also odd to see Sydal lose as well. He could've pulled an upset me thinks.

Overall an okayish ECW.

This just in- tomorrow at 12 Noon (ET), information about the supplemental draft will be posted at wwe.com. Now, onto the show.

I was expecting Matt Hardy to wrestle tonight, but I wasn't expecting him to get some revenge against Miz & Morrison. I could see this leading to a Matt Hardy/ John Morrison showdown after Night of Champions. I will say I was glad they decided to give CM Punk the win on his final match on ECW (until ECW starts touring with RAW).

Finally we get Kofu vs. Benjamin again. I wish they would have done a street fight instead of extreme rules, but these two stole the show. Ironically, the best two matches were the first two matches.

Is anybody else disgusted with them showing Kane laughing and saying his match is next? They could easily make it Still to come so that we wouldn't be surprised to see Mike Knox vs. Evan Bourne next. Knox is quickly becoming one of the biggest heels in ECW, but Bourne should have beat him.

I wasn't expecting Henry to get the pin over Kane in the state of Texas.

My mom got mad that Mark Henry beat Kane (she doesn't like Henry) but I was glad. Not that I don't like Kane or anything.

Did anyone notice that the graphic said that Mark Henry is on the ECW roster? Ladies & gentlemen, I believe they've found a solution to the title problem.

It's since been reported that Henry will join Kane & Big Show in the title match on Sunday, and if in fact Henry is a official part of the ECW roster, he's likely to win the title.

Best match on the show was the Kofi-Shelton extreme rules match. Nice to see that Kofi came right back after being fed to J-Me-L the night before. Shel went to the well one time too many with the Stinger Splash and it cost him big time.

Speaking of coming right back, Matt Hardy got the fall right back from John Morrison, but was anyone surprised at all to see Hornswoggle pop up?

The hometown/state curse doesn't apply to ECW, hence Henry, a native Texan, going over Kane. Show was great on commentary. Made Adamle look stupid (too easy, I know).

Evan Bourne losing to Mike Knox I chalk up to Bourne paying his dues. Nothing more. They need to build up Knox, whom I thought might've gotten drafted (like that was really gonna happen), as a feasible challenger for the ECW or US titles. Still looks too much like Ole Anderson to me.

I was there last night and odd enough that ECW began at 7 P.M. Central time? Ok?

Kofi / Shelton the best match of the night? Not according to us fans who were sitting there watching this. We all thought it was lame. I even heard some yell "This is a pre-school hardcore match!" LOL!:p

I even had a little kid next to me telling his dad that he wanted o go home cause the pyro was to scary for him.

No.No.No.No.No.No.

No.

Horrible, Horrible idea. At this point, I'd welcome the ECW/Raw mix-up (although without them saying anything yet, I'm starting to wonder), just so Kane can keep the belt. At least he can work a match.

Which, by the way, what in the heck was the point of putting Punk and Kane on Raw if they're just going to show up on ECW the next night. Really hurts the idea of the draft. If ECW doesn't have the roster to loose them, they don't raid the damn show like they did. Even if they're "Farewell" matches, it still looks wrong.

I watched ECW after it aired and then I couldn't get on to post!

Hopefully Hornswoggle will pay for the trouble he caused for Morrison & Miz in the opening tag match. Not bad for Matt's official ECW debut though.

The Kofi-Benjamin match was a lot of fun to watch. The hurricanrana into the trash can was awesome!

Evan Bourne didn't fair very well against Knox this week, but I'm happy to see him appearing every week.

Kane took his eye off the ball last Friday and he did it against on Tuesday. A guy with so much experience and a champion at that shouldn't be costing himself with such rookie mistakes. I guess all of Mark Henry's meddling worked in his favor now that he managed to get into the ECW Title match on Sunday.

Finally we get Kofu vs. Benjamin again. I wish they would have done a street fight instead of extreme rules, but these two stole the show. How would a street fight have been any different? It's just a different name as far as I'm concerned.

Did anyone notice that the graphic said that Mark Henry is on the ECW roster? Ladies & gentlemen, I believe they've found a solution to the title problem.Especially on ECW, the graphics guys haven't been very good about the name plate carrying the correct brand. While Henry was drafted the next day, I wouldn't ready anything into this.

I was there last night and odd enough that ECW began at 7 P.M. Central time? Ok?They've been doing that at least some of the time at the ECW-SmackDown tapings. Not sure if it's common practice or not though.
