I still don"t get it why? I mean he always use a little red on his tools. In a BTAS episode bruce wore a red sweater in Joker wild. :) Bruce wayne should use yellow on his Batman Beyond suit. :)

Maybe as Gotham's skies became more and more red and less blue, he figured that red might help him blend in better with the environment. Or, of course, given that the bat is supposed to be a target for criminals given that's where his suit his the most durable, he chose red because it's very noticeable against his black suit. I dunno really. I always thought it looked pretty cool.

Bruce Wayne should use yellow on his Batman Beyond suit.
If the Beyond costume was yellow on black, he'd look like Monkey from Dial 'M' for Monkey. :anime:

Maybe the red on black has more of a symbolic meaning to it. Red symbolizes action, confidence, courage and vitality. All of those which reflect Batman's actions in all of his conflicts against criminals. Black represents death, earth and stability. The death of his parents fuels Batman's actions and courage. I've always thought that through wearing the costume and becoming Batman, Bruce Wayne is able to gain some more stability from the traumatic event of seeing his parents murdered. Of course, whether or not he has stability as either Batman or Bruce Wayne can be debatable.

Anyway I liked the idea that he had red on black and I agree with Light Lucario about the qualities it has.Sometimes it looked more pink than red which raised some serious questions.;)

According to the other Bruce (Bruce Timm), he used those colors because it looks cool.

Yeah I saw that picture a while ago, and yes I'm quite sure we would of gone blind if we had to endure that. The Red looks new, since it's Batman of the Future, and since Terry was younger, more rebelious, I guess it kind of reflected his personality.
If the Beyond costume was yellow on black, he'd look like Monkey from Dial 'M' for Monkey. :anime:
...or like Batgirl from TNBA.

There are a few possible reasons why he used red, maybe:
- Bruce made it to fit the time era. Times had changed since he was Batman.
- the red represents the blood that he and Terry share.
- Cadmus made the suit and presented it to Bruce.

I remember reading something that said that ninjas would sometimes wear red suits for nighttime work because at nighttime, the human eye loses the ability to perceive red first. This article here (http://hyperphysics.phy-astr.gsu.edu/hbase/vision/rodcone.html) (scroll all the way to the bottom) explains why, since the rods in the eye are much less sensitive to red wavelengths of light under low-light conditions (and details something you can try at nighttime).
However, what I know about camouflage also says that you need multiple colors in a pattern that disrupts the human body-shaped outline. Human vision is very good at detecting and identifying shapes and patterns, especially that of other people. Large objects that are a single uniform color also don't happen often in nature and will draw attention to themselves (especially if the subject is moving), so wearing a single color outfit at nighttime can actually make you MORE visible, not less. Someone trying to spot that hypothetical ninja in an all-red suit won't have a harder of a time doing it because they can't tell what color the suit is. They'll still be able to see the shape of the person in it.
Of course, the red elements on Batman Beyond's suit don't serve this camo pattern-disruptive function at all, since they clearly delineate human extremities or the deliberately identifiable chest logo. Plus, if b.t.'s already said he picked the colors because they looked cool, that's good enough for me.

Was that supposed to be Batgirl Beyond, or just Batman with a different suit color?

The one in the yellow suit is supposed to be Batgirl Beyond, the one in the red is Batman II aka Batman Beyond (Terry McGinnis).

I always saw it as an homage to Tim Drake's costume being mostly red. Bruce Wayne's decision, not Bruce Timm's.
