This week, the first arc in Catwoman's new ongoing series comes to a close and Darwin Cooke bids the series a farewell for the time being. Please share your thoughts on issue #4, your hopes for upcoming issues and general opinions... ;)
Jim's Note: The series is not ending, just Cooke's four issue run.

Howdy all,
As Darwyn Cooke goes, so perhaps do I. I liked this first 4-issue arc, but will freely admit that a big reason why is Darwyn Cooke's art. I'm honestly not sure that I'm as taken with the comic without it.
That said, this was a reasonably satisfying ending to the first arc of the new Catwoman. I found it interesting that Selina's story and development as a character is far more interesting than the story of the villain she pursues, or the story of the pursuit itself.
So the bad guy turns out to be an amalgam of Clayface's powers and Wolverine's origin. Yawn.
I loved the little exchange between Batman & Catwoman at the end. "The signal is for the police." Har har har.
I did find Selina's comment about the money ("And if we run out...Well, I can always get more, can't I?") an interesting little tease. Perhaps she'll develop into a Robin Hood of Gotham City, stealing from the corrupt and the criminal and aiding the outlaws and fringe elements of society.
I'll probably browse #5 on the stands, at least.

That was...ugh. I dunno, the villain seemed interesting until issue 4. It just...didn't flow, I guess. Anyway, I'm ditching the series but a friend of mine is buying it so I'll still be able to read it.

I enjoyed it. But then again, my favorite villian in the DC universe is Clayface, and my favorite mutant is Wolverine, so the combo of the two is a winning mix if you ask me!

i liked it, it ended nicely and was a really good four parter.
the villian's explaination was a little weak. it didnt seem too, i dont know, well thought out or it seemed like they had this big mystery surrounding the killer and had no other way to explain him except with a very obvious and simple origin. i had mixed feelings about that.
but it didnt bother me too much, cause as Ace the Bathound said above, the books most interesting aspect is selina's character development, not the villian or the action. thats kind of why i like the book, its refreshing that way.
peace.

Well, a good story... but the art's what drew me to this book in the first place. I'm done since Darwyn is, I'll peak at it while I'm in the comic shop, though.... back on topic, tho, was that last page just awesome? Cooke did a heck of a job on his last page of the book, for now if not for the rest of its run...

Yeah the art was really great but I agree, the plot twists weren't too groundbreaking: Wolverine's origin, Clayface's capabilities, the way the villain lost control of himself and "swallowed" Catwoman reminded me a lot of Akira...
Still this arc was very enjoyable. Can't wait for next month. I'm sure Rader and Stewart will do just fine.

I rather liked the ending and the freaky villian.
"The Batsignal is for police use only."
I like that line and several others mentioned.
Catwoman is becoming one of my favs, you know at first I thought I'd never get used to the art, but it began to grow on me.
