.......

58 is way too damn early, and he was a great man and a fantastic journalist.

A fantastic journalist.

Sunday mornings won't ever be the same.

Beat me to it, but here's the most complete article I could find so far, via msnbc.com:

Quite a stunner, and a giant loss for the industry. May he rest in peace.

It was in watching the analysis of last Saturday's Clinton speech that I crystalized my opinion that NBC/MSNBC was going to be where I watched my politics coverage, because Russert a) understood what was going on and b) was able to tell it in a way I understood it.

Stunner. And a tip of the curly W Nats cap (logo is my avatar) to a season-ticket holder and one of the folk most overjoyed to see baseball back in DC.

:( Oh my god. My condolences to his family and friends. This is just so shocking. Many of these people when they die, while it is definitely just as tragic, are old and already on their way out. But Russert wasn't that old at all. He was only 58. This is just so... sudden. I'm speechless.

As a follower of politics, a kinda-wannabe journalist and as a Buffaloian, this is a very sad day.

I was shocked when I heard the news. Me and my parents grew up watching him on Meet The Press. He was a great journalist, always did a tough interview, but was always fair when he did those interviews.

RIP Tim Russert, My condolences go out to you and your family. We will miss you.

My family and I enjoyed watching all the different sides on all the networks discuss their viewpoints on politics, especially this current political race for the White House. Meet the Press was a great show led by a hard-working moderator.

Dr. Newman just mentioned on MSNBC's continuing Special Report coverage in an autopsy that was done that he had an enlarged heart and singificant coronary artery disease. A fresh clot triggered the cardiac event. It had been known for quite some time that Russert had coronary artery disease, but he still exercised each morning and always appeared to be feeling pretty good.

This is a sad, unexpected loss and I respected him greatly. He will be missed and MTP will not be the same.

One of the few newspeople I liked, and he's been on as long as I can remember. My condolences to his family. 58 is WAY too young.

When my co-worker mentioned this in the afternoon, I had to see for myself as I couldn't quite believe it. He was one of the more astute political corespondents in DC and I was really optimistic that he would provide me with the information I need for all of the upcoming fun and games. I learned a lot about him today, especially his background, personality and career, unfortunately it was all in the form of an obituary.

My thoughts and prayers are with his family at this time.

RIP.

My brother shocked me with this news. Meet the Press always seemed to have interesting topics and guests.

The sudden passing of Meet the Press moderator Tim Russert was only the first tragedy to strike the NBC family, yesterday. Hours later, NBC also lost longtime sportscaster Charlie Jones. Like Russert, he passed away from a heart attack. The loss of both Russert and Jones, combined with the recent fire at Universal Studios, this late spring has been really tough for NBC. God bless both of the families of Tim Russert and Charlie Jones. At the same time, God help NBC Universal, too- I'm not sure how many more tragedies they can handle, this year.

I read the breaking news on the Seattle Times website Fri afternoon. Though I wasn't a regular viewer, I liked his work on Meet the Press. The last appearance I watched on television was his interview w/ Jon Stewart, he was plugging his book at the time (the one about his father).
