Looks awesome. They've redone some of the scenes using GiTS: Sac level 3d Graphics. Very nice

I'd rather get more Stand Alone Complex, but I suppose this was inevitable.

If they give it a new dub using the SAC cast, I'd be willing to buy this movie as I was never a big fan of it.

Luckily, a good chunk of the SAC cast did reprise their roles from the film.
I don't really find the movie's graphics that dated though.

I have a hard time going back to the movies after watching the series and reading the manga, because it's pretty obvious that Oshii while adapting and using an actual storyline from the manga clearly went about it his own way.
Almost all of the light-hearted or comedic moments in the manga are gone and Oshii made the Major into even more of a 'robotic' personality then she ever is in the manga or series. He focused more on the whole dystopia aspect of the future and that's the advancement of technology destroying or fundamentally changing the soul of humanity.
While some of those themes do come up in the manga I think when you watch Oshii's movies and then either read the manga or watch SAC you see a pretty different take on it.

Eh, I don't approve. GITS was a product of its time. And for its time it was cutting edge amazing animation. Even today I still think it looks exceptional.
As a movie compared to the source material, I prefer the series.
But honestly, what's the point? I feel SAC and Innocence were great examples of how to approach the material with more modern technology. I see no point in doing a George Lucas/Steven Spielberg on these movies.
Warts and all.

Will the guns all be changed to walkie-talkies as well?
