View Full Version : Jackie Chan Adventures Q&A
I've REALLY been diggin JCA as of late. I'd dare say its the best on KWB right now tied only with Static Shock - but i'd probably start a few arguments if I did '^^
Anyways - I was curious about a few things. I know that Jackie Chan was only voiced by the RL Jackie Chan in a few episodes. Can anyone provide info on which episodes JC actually did his own voice and whats the name of the guy doing the voice currently? I've heard it was a relative of his but wasnt sure.
Lastly - is there a RL Jade Chan (i.e. Jackie's neice) or was she created solely for the series?
Anybody got any background info on this series in general (besides the fact that Jeff Matsuda does character design :D ) ?

I'm fairly sure Jade was invented for the show...(ie the Kids WB, it's good to thrust little kids into danger ,cause the audience can relate...)
According to imdb, a man by the name of James Sie voices Jackie.....as well as Shendu & Chow...
Jade is voiced by a Stacie Chan...so there may be some family ties there...
Anyway IMDB info @ http://us.imdb.com/Title?0259141

Yay! Another Jackie Chan fan! ^_^ Yes, I agree it's one of the best shows on KWB, although I can't compare it to Static Shock since I've never seen that show. Hey, on Saturday's I need my sleep...¬_¬;;

I LOVE Jackie Chan Adventures!
Uncle RULES ALL!!!!
Hok Foo: Angry Crow takes flight!
Uncle: Thank you for sharing angry crow!
*Uncle whacks Foo* :D
*whaps you with his fingers*
One more thing!
I had a feeling the real Jackie didn't do the voice.
*runs around acting like Hok Foo beating the crap out of everybody for no apparent reason*

--that's puzzled me: why are all the other demons banished to another dimension, but Chandu (or Shendu, or Xintu, however you want to spell it) allowed to remain on earth, sealed in a statue? Whatever the reason, his brothers and sisters seem pretty jealous and despise him. You'd think among the blind the one-eyed man is king, but in this case he's just an object of hatred and envy. It's not like being trapped in a slab of rock is a picnic, I'd think....
Also noting how much the Chans travel, I'd think either the college Jackie works for or Section 13 has an expense account ten miles long. I wonder if Jackie has to save his reciepts and keep track of every penny should a review board/the I.R.S. come calling. As Uncle might say, "Demons...ninjas...thieves...killers....
no problem. But no chi spell can stop the tax man!"

I got the impression that Chandu's the "runt" of the litter and just plain disliked by his sibs, given how badly they seem to treat him... though there's also his having a bit of a "fast talker" persona to him as well (in striking various deals with his demonic sibs).

Probably Section 13.... last I recall, California's state colleges/universities were in financial straits :-)

More probably, among the blind the one-eyed man is considered insane, and a good candidate for stick-in-the-eye therapy to cure him of his hallucinations.

I dunno, if you read my post about action cartoons getting tame, this is exactly what I was talking about. Unrelated to the declining action but still important in my opinon, Jade is to Jackie Chan what Scrappy was to Scooby Doo. Edit: (I admit I was wrong, my bad. :p but charater like Jade in my opinion are what turn me off to a series, they think they are the main character and run with the show, to be perfectly honest, I like Jackie chan as a stuntman, but as a cartoon hero, that's just stretching it a bit.)

>=p
JCA is all about the comedy...the action is secondary...sorta like Dragon Ball...
And Scooby has NO action, so....why'd you bring up Scooby to make a point about declining ACTION cartoons.
I like Jade...=p You don't...so don't watch.

I get the impression that Jackie is a freelance archologist (sp). When Jackie is demon chasing Section 13 foots the bill as a line-item of martial arts instructor (as mentioned in the first episode of season two).
Mister Intensity
I've always gotten the impression that Jackie was freelance in the series as well.
As for myself - I like Jade ^____^
Unlike Scrappy Doo she's not a glory hog and doesnt ruin the full chemistry of the series. Honestly I almost dont think the show would work or be as fun as it currently is without her. The Dragonball comparison is the best example I've seen to it really.
That and she doesnt spout off corny catch phrases and put on the "cutesy wutesy" act when she causes trouble.
Theres something about Jade that is executed FAR BETTER than the likes of Scrappy Doo. :) For me - she's just as a part of the series as Jackie and Uncle themselves. :)
Now if only we could get in more of Tohru :D

Toru! Bring me my books! Uncle must do RESEARCH!
Jade is Jackie's Foil...Scrappy did little to advance the plot, while Jade ia almost always used to ADVANCE the plot. She's a spunky kid...and I love the running gag of how she always pops up, even if there's no way she should be able to be there. =O

She probably hides in the car trunk.

Jade still makes me think of Scrappy Doo, I admit....and also admit I could probably live without her on the show (while she's clearly better than the Scrapster, I suspect I'd hate to be in the same room with her for much more than a few minutes, "spunky" or not...especially if I hear her say "Hel-*lo*?!" one more time...). I'd rather just see the adults in the series sans any kids, I suppose, though I guess cartoons these days demands at least one kid character for children to "identify" with...

Who didn't care much for that kid who was in "Rumble In the Bronx" either, for what it's worth....

Presumably, the same way Spritle did (remember the kid brother on 'Speed Racer'?)

So......you'd rather have Jackie Solo most of the time....or...have an Adult filling the "role" of Jade...

Probably so, pretty much....Viper sounds like she'd make a more interesting "substitution" :-)

I'd rather see Jackie go solo as well. Kid-empowerment can be good sometimes, but every episode? I don't care what KWB says, I'm a kid, and I cannot relate to Jade in any way. ~.~ In fact, lately with season 2 she's been the one most apt to get on my nerves. That whole "Hel-lo " thing doesn't help, either.
Don't get me wrong -- I DO like Jade. She's spunky, tough, and at other times caring and considerate. In some ways, I don't think the show would be the same without her.
In all, she's a nice addition to the cast, but a break here and there couldn't hurt. Come on KWB, ONE episode with Jackie going solo! Is that so much to ask? ~*~

--The Jade-haters likely don't have kids of their own, or at least neices/nephews. Kids are into everything; that's their nature.
Though with the addition of "Uncle" Tohru--note how he usually picks Jade up with one hand and tucks her under his arm when she gets rowdy?--her tendencies may get curbed somewhat (watch the Yeti or the Demon of Water ep and you'll
see my point--she stays out from underfoot during the climax as long as she's kept occupied).

I disagree with you. Even though my favorite character IS Viper, I also like Jade myself. She may be small, but she does have spunk. As for Viper herself, I like her martial-arts moves and the way she's able to use the Dragon talisman against evil (as in the Enter the Viper and Demon World eps.) They're both tops in my book.
