Well, we haven't had one of these in a while. Well, the thread title is self-explanatory. This covers both action and comedy shows. Live-action shows can be included too. Also, make sure you give reasons as to why you think this show would fit right in with the AS lineup. I don't want it to turn into a list thread. I'll start it off.
Action
You know, I can't really think of any titles that come to mind. I know FUNimation licensed D.Grayman, but I remember seeing a couple episodes of it and I wasn't really that impressed with it. If it did come, I'd probably watch and see if I changed my mind on it.
What would be cool to see is AS develop their own original action property. This can be American-made or Japanese-made. It probably be better to go the anime route since it might be cheaper to make. I know Afro Samurai was a success for Spike TV. Granted, the last time AS had an action original(Big O Season 2), it didn't do that great. But, I think enough time has passed to try again.
Comedy
I think its almost a given that The Cleveland Show will rerun on AS. Its a Seth MacFarlane show and he's had a pretty good track record for success for the network.;) Even if the show isn't a success on FOX and is cancelled, it'll give AS another show to rerun in the late nights on Sunday.
Sit Down, Shut Up looks to be another candidate to air on AS. While obviously we can't judge on how it will turn out yet, the talent behind it is pretty good and it seems to be shaping up nicely.
Another show that I wouldn't mind seeing on AS is Curb your Enthusiasm. It's an HBO show and its from the co-creator of Seinfeld, Larry David. While some of the humor is similar, the show is different enough to stand on its own. I just recently got into the show and its hilarious. Each episode manages to make me laugh out loud at least once. It would have to be edited, due to some of the language used on the show. But, I think it would be a nice fit on the AS lineup(I know its live-action, but let's face it, live-action is here to stay on the block).
I would also recommend The Office or Arrested Development but those have networks already.
Maybe it's just my jaded attitude regarding AS, but while I can think of shows I want off at the drop of a hat, thinking of new shows to come on is very difficult. I've come to accept that ASA's Kim Manning standards will make anything very difficult to get approved, and I can't think of any exceptional adult shows that fit the mold. Bob Odenrick is better on HBO, and I'm glad that's where his new project will debut.

Monster would meet the same reception as Death Note, which is why I didn't mention it.

I figure ratings won't change as long as AS Action is on Saturday nights, so they might as well aim for quality.

Claymore for AS action. Its a rather serious fighting anime about women warriors hunting and exterminating demons.

Probably Clevland Show! is under the deal w/ Fox for FG/AD
I hope that show comes, since I don't think it'll last past 1 season
I love Arrested Development, and would be a greatr addition especially if they get SD&SU (As the creator and 2 core actors of AD have the same roles on SD&SU). The Office is on TBS, which is a sister network of CN, so they could run it probably but TBS probably wouldn't let them...
Curb Your Enthusiasm would be great too. If there isn't another season, CN should try to get him to do a series, because that would be sick
Some other things I would like
-Megas XLR: A show geared towards 80's kids and Giant Mecha fans, this series ran unsuccessfully on CN because it scored too few ratings in the target demo qand was expensive. Now I think any 80's geared show would fit well on [as]. I still think that in a few years they should try to run it on [as] (with new eps of course).
-Billy and Mandy: If this show had debuted 2-3 years later, this show almost certainly would've gone to [as]. The zany and violent humor fits the [as] audience, and it would work great as being a little more edgy.
-Anything involving Kevin Smith: Clerks:The Animated Series was a hilarious show that didn't target ABC's demo (Why that ABC thought it would do good nobody will be able to figure out). All the View Askew movies would probably work out with [as] audiences. Personally, I think that if [as] finally gives up on anime, they should make Saturday a movie night, and starting it off with Clerks would be great
Please don't kill me

I don't trust this. It hasn't been announced at ANN, AoD, or other places that would know. It could be true, but I think more proof is required.
As for shows:
Action:
The Twelve Kingdoms. It's the only Pierott show that has consistently good animation and narative. +Hot redhead swordswoman.
Fate / Stay Night. Swords, Sorecery, Death, Destruction, and all that. + it has a decent plot.
AEon Flux. It's old and it needs a new home. MTV / Viacom really treat their properties badly.
The Maxx. Because Surreal Existentialist shows are where it's at. (Like..Big O, Serial Experiments Lain, Ergo Proxy, Twin Peaks, etc.)
Shakugan no Shana. Because their aren't enough flaming Haired, blazing Eyed, Swordswomen, kicking ass, on TV.
Comedy:
Can't really think of any. The Average [as] comedy viewer has the same level of intellectual maturity as Magical DoReMi.
Other:
I think [as] should branch out and try new things, like
Romance:
Fushigi Yugi. Unlike InuYasha, It actually has a conclusion, within a reasonable amount of episodes. Gets the InuYasha Fangirls for sure.
Peach Girl. Who doesn't like soap opera romances?

I'd like to see [AS] pick up Kurau. This aliens-among-us anime series has a good dose of action, an engaging adult story with very intense character relationships, no objectionable fanservice, attractive art, a coherent future world, well-realized bad guys, and a good satisfying ending. The story is about how aliens trapped in human bodies try to go home again without harming their hosts or leaving human society in a mess. And how certain humans don't want to let them go. It's a great series that's flown under the media-hype radar.
I believe one of the attributes of Inuyasha that's kept it popular is the very strong character relationships among the main cast. IY works because of its balance of romance and action. Kurau offers a balance between action and close, even intense, ties among family and friends. It's an ADV property, though, which might make it problematic for [AS].
Another is Shakugan no Shana, . Its an action series with a storyline and characters that got my attention right away. As mentioned, the female lead character is a red-haired, flaming-eyed, butt-kicking, high-school sword wielder in a very short skirt who goes up against fearful soul-sucking monsters from another dimension. But the story is about her steadily-closer relationship with a nerdy high-school guy who turns out to have an extraordinary gift of his own. She's always worked alone but this guy somehow has resonated with her, like a soulmate. Which she finds hard to take, particularly when he turns out to be a useful partner in battle. Again, there's a strong romantic streak through this series that gives viewers a reason to care who wins the fights.
I think AS has missed the boat by not going for anime with a strong romantic element. A well-done romance will bring in both male and female viewers. (^_*)

She's not a high schooler. She takes over that position to protect her... I'm not spoiling any more.
soul-sucking monsters from another dimension.
That's a super innacurate description. They have nothing to do with souls (I don't think their even are souls in Shana.)

Tripping the Rift
And not just because it's been off the air for two years but because there are new episodes in HD quality that do not have an American broadcaster. I know this show isn't everyone's cup of tea, but it would be nice to see these episodes at least once in a trial run.

Interesting choices. The same for Twelve Kingdoms.
I'm gonna second the nomination of Fushigi Yugi. I've been watching it lately and I love it! People who like Inuyasha would probably like it.
In general, I would like to see more shows with some female leads. I do remember that Blood+ and Witch Hunter Robin didn't do so well, though.
I would also like to see an original American action cartoon made for a change. Not some low-budget, cheap piece of crap either.
Daria for comedy. Who doesn't like Daria :p ? Airing on Adult Swim would probably do for it what it did for Family Guy. Some DVDS!!!!!
Sin City would've been sooooooooooooo perfect for Adult Swim, imo. There were talks of making a live action TV series. Not sure how it panned out, though. There have to be more comics/graphic novels that could be made into animated series as opposed to either toned-down kids' show and movies  .

That's why I didn't mention The Office. TBS has it and probably won't give it up. Even though they get to air Family Guy. I remember a viewer card mentioning some shows AS could air and The Office was one of them. Basically they said they wish they could air it. And I think this was before TBS got the airing rights to it.
Also, I think Curb is getting another season on HBO.

Ya, that's true. The only show they gave to CN was Saved by the Bell, so I guess good trade-off for lower Family Guy ratings.. My guess is that a chance will open up when The Office can air more because I think it's on one of those deals like Earl (where it can't air regularly until Fall 09).
Oh, sweet. I just started renting the DVDs from my local library, and I got hooked. I'm gonna check out Seinfeld next, since I know he was involved in that.

Oops. Sorry. For the comedy shows like Curb, South Park, Ali G and Clerks, I feel that their humor would fit well on the AS block especially Da Ali G Show.
For Freddy's Nightmares and Masters of Horror, well since AS aired a Horror show last year, I figured why not let AS air those two shows.
For R.O.D. and Ah! My Goddess, well I feel that Adult Swimm needs to air the more underrated Anime shows and I feel that those two shows just fit the Saturday schedule for Adult Swim.

I've mentioned this before, but for a while now I've felt that Sam & Max: Freelance Police would be a good fit for [as]. Pity there weren't a whole lot of episodes.
And I'll second the request for Megas XLR; I'd just like to see that air again somewhere.
Also, on the subject of the suggestions for live-action shows: while it does indeed seem that live-action is on CN to stay, at the same, I'd rather they not go overboard with it, especially not with an overabundance of sitcoms. There are plenty of cable channels where you watch old sitcom reruns (TBS, to name just one example), so [as] doesn't need to become yet another dumping ground for reruns of Seinfeld and The Office. If [as] were to start acquiring live-action shows on a regular basis, I say they should be niche shows which wouldn't fit anywhere else, like Fat Guy Stuck in Internet.

If it can't get back on toonami, One Piece :UNCUT:
Buso Renkin if not Toonami
Withcblade, if Whoever has it looses the rights
samurai 7, IFC showed it but not anymore. It desrves a home like AS
Saiyuki Gunlock, or Reloaded. Encore WAM no longer shows it, so just go to AS
Goukusen , same as Sayuki
Samurai Deeper Kyo, Encore WAM shows it..at rando times. Give it a good slot or just hand it to AS
Vandread, maybe good for Toonami, but just in cas save it for AS. It's in the same situaion as sayuiki and Goukusen
Shadow skill, you should know the drill -_-
Seriously Encore WAM, WTF? AS better pick theese up from those guys, since they don't show ANYTHING but SDK, which barely comes on.
Goukusen was on Encore WAM a few days ago actually.
And AS has never been one for sloppy seconds, at least not on the ACTN side.

The horror show was a horror parody, and was actually a comedy. I think that was the same with "Stiff" from one of the ATHF creators. Though this still would probably fit [as]'s audience tho

I actually was referring to Stiff but it's been a long time since I saw that. But I did mainly choose Freddy's Nightmares and Masters of Horror because those shows fit the [as] audience.
