This is kind of a continuation of the " Any new channels that air Anime" thread, but this is about my wishes.

I am hooked on Crayon Shin Chan. I have seen many episodes both with and without subtitles, and I found most of them funny, even the ones without subs.

I know that a local Hawain tv station aired Crayon Shin Chan in the 90's and early 2000's. I am pleaing to TV Asahi and pleaing to FUNimation to give their blessing to bringing the original version of Crayon Shin Chan to air on a U.S. channel. As for Adult Swim, they allow Family Guy to air in syndication.

DVD releases would be nice too, but I think FUNimation might have more of a problem with that, than they would just with it airing it on television. Despite FUNimation having no legal rights of stopping it, TV Asahi does not want to alienate a business partner.

That's cause Adult Swim doesn't own Family Guy, FOX does. Many shows that air reruns on cable, also run in syndication.

My point exactly, they don't own Shin Chan either. If some channel that airs raw anime shows or anime english subs decides to pick up Crayon Shin Chan, Adult Swim should let it be.

That probably won't happen. So just enjoy the dub. It's fairly amusing.

I like the FUNi dub as well, it is great in its own way. It is different from the original. I don't like to compare the FUNi dub to the original, because it was never intended to interupt the original like dubs normally do. Don't mistake my intially plea as critism on the dub. Though to be real, FUNi is never going to dub all of the episodes.

And FUNi kept the music, and the title cards unlike the other two companies that dubbed Crayon Shin Chan. It just didn't feel like Shin Chan without the music and title cards. Plus Laura Bailey captures Shin's personality much better than the other actresses on the other dubs. Though I give the Vitello dub credit, they had a great catchy opening theme song.

I still could watch episodes on that famous website that airs videos (I won't menion the name, but we know what I am referring to) and maybe I could find some people that have episodes from the KIKU-run.

It is a shame though, the original is a great show, too bad we have to mis out.

If you honestly think Adult Swim will run the show SUBBED... Then I laugh at you.

That'd be a ratings suicide.

He's talking about another network airing subbed Crayon Shin-Chan.

Yes, plus I consider the FUNi dub as a completely different series. It feels more like an original series, than a dub. Anyone agree with me on that?

And I really like the FUNi closing theme. If they had the time for a 1 minute opening theme, and the legal rights, the Vitello dub opening them and FUNi closing theme would be a great combination.

Sorry, it's not going to happen. Unless IFC or one of the Starz stations decide to, and the Japanese rights holder would have to sign off on the idea. The lack of a subtitled release is pretty much their idea for any of a number of reasons. Maybe one day Funi can od one, but it's not very likely. Sorry.

I agree with you. There aren't that many subs airing in american anyway.

I also agree if it was to happen, it would be because some channel in the U.S. wants to air the original series, and they would pursue TV Asahi. TV Asahi is not going to go hunting for someone to air the subs.

But unlike other shows, it doesn't feel like Shin Chan is airing in the U.S. at all, like I said before the FUNi dub feels like an original series. A good original series, but a different show non the less.

It is called "domestication" where the original show it twisted into something new. I desperately want an unedited, subbed Takeshi's Castle but instead, all there exists in the U.S. is MXC: Most Extreme Elimination Challenge, which is something completely different from Takeshi's Castle. For whatever whacked reason, I can't even score an R2 DVD set for Takeshi's Castle because one doesn't appear to have ever been made.

While I understand domestication, I despise it. Now, if you give me an undomesticated, unedited, accurately subbed version, then I could care less about the domesticated versions. However, when you don't give me that option, then I'm irritated and I won't participate in the domestication.

While the FUNi dub is very different from the original "Crayon Shin-Chan", I don't consider it a completely different series. The characters and stories are basically the same as the original even with all the liberties they've taken. It's nothing like what "Takeshi's Castle" became when it was turned into "MXC".

The reason I say it feels like a completely different series, is the episodes out of order, they are just random episodes packaged differently from the original.

For example the first 6 trial episodes were just random episodes, and lately they are airing episodes from the early 2000's along with Action Bastard centric episodes from 1995.

It just feels like a different series in my opinion. Though in a good way, it still feels like Shin Chan, it still has the spirit of Shin Chan it just doesn't have the same story structure, they still have the title cards and the music of the original, unlike the first two english dubs that aired in England. They completely butchered it.

I could only see this running on something like ImaginAsian TV.
