That's another heavily promoted by [as] website getting severe cutbacks. Should [as] higher-ups (for that matter, Turner network higher-ups) be worried?

Adult Swim is still in good shape whether Super Deluxe or GameTap's video side succeed but it is a bit of a shame that both are biting the big one. The actual GameTap service is still present and to many that is all that matters in reguards to GameTap.
But all these failures should be indicating to Turner by now that higher quality programing is what is neccessary to keep people interested.

I wonder what is going to happen next. GameTap was actually a decent place to go, compared to SuperDeluxe. While AS seems to be holding on I'm expecting the action part to be completely gutted by the end of 2009.

I've never quite understood what GameTap is. The ads really do a poor job of explaining what the site does. All I know is it's a way to play classic games. So, is it like emulators, or do they ship them out to you?
It's an emulator service to play games on PC. Which theoretically, IS a good idea.

No surprise to me that GameTap dropped all content other than the actual playable games. It's like what G4 did in moving away from gamer journalism to a young-adult-male lifestyle channel. Gamers want to play games, not watch shows about game playing. (^_*)

I think while in theory it's a great idea-in execution it just didn't work...enough...with the actual marketplace.
For years classic console gaming emulators have existed, roms really aren't that hard to find p2p networks , I'm not saying it's right but the hard core market who wants to play a classic game on the computer still has the ability. The casual market now has the option to download classic games to their wii/360/ps3. I guess whatever was left, (classic computer games), wasn't enough to make gametap profitable.
I guess I should check it out before it shuts down for good......

GameTap has been transferred to a new owner. (http://www.destructoid.com/gametap-acquired-by-metaboli-aims-to-create-global-gaming-service--104944.phtml)
Those of you who didn't want this service to die, consider yourselves lucky!

Maybe we'll get some new free games...? - -;
I've played Last Blade so many times now. Can I have Mark of the Wolves plz? :3
And come on Lucas Arts, give me Grim Fandango and the Monkey Island games. They're out of print.
And they would probably load better than Psychonauts.

Turner/Time Warner must be losing money.

Well, that sucks. I never got to watch the Space Ghost episodes.
Maybe someday they'll include them and that interview they did with that Mexican soccer star on a future DVD.
Wait...I think they've run out of episodes to put on DVD. Crap.

Nope, the brand-new Volume 5 stops short of the last handful of episodes made exclusively for Adult Swim. I fully expect to see the GameTap episodes included on the next (final) DVD - if for no other reason than to pad it out.

Did anyone actually see the GameTap Space Ghost episodes? I love the show but I heard, like, nothing about those...
Also, did SuperDeluxe die? Is that why AS isn't airing as many obnoxious ads for it anymore?

I saw 2 of them.Cant remember the guests. One noticeable differnce from the TV version is that the GameTap epsiodes were really short.About 3-5 mins. They DID feature the theme song but it was about 9 secs. long

That's sad about GameTap.
