While I won't be able to pick up this issue until next week when I go to pick up Justice League Unlimited #46 I'm still really excited about how the finale to the series is going to go. And based on the preview at J. Torres' blog, it seems pretty good. The preview is here (http://jtorresonline.blogspot.com/2008/05/series-finale-just-got-my-copies-of-our.html).

Wow...last issue day!

*listens to Teen Titans theme in appreciation*

When there's trouble, you know who to call... TEEN TITANS!
From their Tower, they can see it all... TEEN TITANS!
When there's evil on the attack,
You can rest knowing they've got your back,
'Cus when the world needs heroes on patrol... TEEN TITANS! GO!
With their super powers they unite... TEEN TITANS!
Never met a villain that they liked... TEEN TITANS!
They've got the bad guys on the run,
They never stop 'til the job is done,
'Cus when the world is losing all control... TEEN TITANS! GO!
1, 2, 3, 4, GO! TEEN TITANS!

(Yes, I typed that out. :D)

I'm hyped for this issue. Can't wait to buy it tomorrow. In case anyone who reads this topic doesn't know yet, the villains were originally going to be the HIVE FIVE, but J. Torres chose someone else... hopefully not just Mr. Wolf.

A quick prediction: Since Robin can't get a signal from Raven, I'm guessing she's gone to Azarath to visit Arella. I certainly hope so; that would be excellent! Can't think where Starfire went - but we'll know soon enough.

Tomorrow, this issue will be mine! :D

I'm wondering now if there even is a *real* villain. Maybe this story is about overcoming one's limitations or something. Thus far, it seems like everyone is just doing their own personal business, and I like that :) Not something we get to see much in kids action comics.

-Robin is taking care of the wolf man from earlier on in the series
-Beast Boy is visiting the Patrol
-Cyborg is training new recruits

And as you said ShadowStar...Raven could be seeing her Mom.

Excited! Nauck's work looks really spiffy...but I think I prefer Ethan Beavers' Cassie.

Ethan Beavers' Cassie probably looked a bit better because the style of that issue perfectly captured the look of the episodes animated by Lotto. In contrast, Nauck pretty much nails the look of the Dong Woo episodes, and throws his own little details in too. Speaking of Cassie... It's great to see Melvin and continuity from other issues, but Cassie getting a half-page splash to herself in the final issue? Oh well... not worth whining about. It's unimportant when everything else is looking really sharp!

Wonder where Starfire is... Could be on Tamaran, but that's doubtful (hey, there'd be a stronger signal there than on Azarath :p).

NNNNOOOOO! Damn it all. The issue has been delayed until friday in the UK. I thought we would get it on the same day as the US, but I guess not... It's been delayed because of the Bank Holiday earlier this week. Thing is... when this happened with issue 50, I had a terrible friday, one of the worst ends to a week I've ever had (despite getting my hands on issue 50 that day). I hope history doesn't repeat itself. :(

SPOILERS!

WOW... where to begin? Sadly, I don't have as much time as I would like at the moment to express my praise for J. Torres and the writers of the animated series... but I'll try my best. This was an outstanding finale. It made for a more appropriate ending than #50, as it brought the core 5 together for a final mission, got inside their heads to remind us why we love their characters and it gave tantalising hints about the future too, with tons of cameos, even if they weren't "real" appearances!

I'm very pleased to say that this outdid "Things Change" and "Trouble in Tokyo" as well. The former was slightly pretentious, though it was thematically a poignant and unforgettable episode; however, it wasn't the right note to end a series on, especially one which had offered so much in the way of diversity throughout its run. And "Trouble in Tokyo", while fun, was a bit shallow and unremarkable, like some of the series' worst episodes. But man, look at "When There's Trouble...". We get everything we never had before in a finale in a nutshell. It really is that good.

This issue wasn't as good as "Wildfire" or "Legacy" - it wasn't the best story this comic has done and it wasn't the most gripping. But what I wanted from this comic, in addition to some new adventures that would take the Titans into new and old territory, was a proper ending. Plus, I'm a sucker for dream sequence stories, so this one is sold gold as far as I'm concerned.

I have to admit that I realised Phobia was the cause of the chaos right before I turned the page with her on it, as J. Torres has been looking to use her for some time. Maybe this wasn't the way he intended to use her, but it worked fine, and it teased us with glimpses of the Titans' darkest fears. The little moments were great too, such as the quips traded by BB and Raven. I wouldn't exactly call that a hint that they might get together, but it was a nice moment and it makes one wonder if it would ever happen.

I'm pleased with what we got in this comic - it was a great ride and certain stories (like "Metamorphosis") helped ease some concerns about the ending of the series. I'm happy I didn't steer clear of this comic after all, and I can't wait to get my copies of the season sets (seasons 1-4 are in the post, though I won't get to watch them until the end of next month). These issues will make a fantastic accompaniment to a memorable series.

I would love for the comic to continue in small bursts - if we can have a few annuals, that would be terrific. What do you think, J? If the chances are sound, then we can write to DC in all our legions one more time. I know all good things must come to an end, and I'm willing to accept this as the end. Still, we should try one last time, and only afterwards console ourselves that we tried as hard as we could.

Thanks to J. Torres, Todd Nauck, David Slack, Amy Wolfram, Rob Hoegee, Glen Murakami and the rest for delivering a series of superhero cartoon stories that could stand tall with the best of them!

Doubt it, J Torres already said he didn't support the pairing. I think it was just an in-joke on the "shipping" itself, it's been done before (most notably in that Larry the Titan Valentines issue.) :raven2:

Phobia was a freaking lame villain for the final issue, really should have gone with the Hive or Slade on this one. It could have been someone else but Phobia just didn't have "it".

How do you bookend a series that already had a freaking amazing season finale. Couldn't disagree more with ShadowStar "Things Change" was nor pretentious it was a true emotional end with how life really is, things chnage. But back to the question, how do you top that? You can't so instead of trying we got tons of fanservice and it works great as its not trying to top anything just making us smile as we flip pages.

The beginning of my post may seem negative but I was just trying to post what I didn't like first. I loved all the little references to past things from botht he comic and the cartoon like the kwiz kid and fixit. Seeing a Titans North and all that was cool. It ends with the "cliche" we're going to fight but it works.

Mostly would have done a different villain as Phobias role of "nightmares" cold have been done by another villain that would have had a better "closure". Loved it though.

Thanks a lot to everyone in the comic! The art while not exactly as the show was a great interpretations, the covers always got me hyped up for months in advanced and the stories were mostly great and everyone involved really understood the "feel" of the show. Would have loved to see many more stories being told by them and see some characters return be it slade or kwiz kid or just expand characters or episodes of the show by adding backstory to them.

Started picking up the comic after I started watching the show and just ebayed the first 10 issues that were already out and collected it monthy. My last issue was 30 where I quit because "life" happens but I was able to start picking it up again from issue 54 and now this one, now to backtrack and read the other 23 issues I missed and from what I've seen this comic only got better!

I guess, for me, it just captured everything there was to dislike about the otherwise great series: the reluctance to answer lingering questions or change the status quo, the involvement of an unexplained, 1D villain as a blatant plot device, the fact that crucial things, such as where the schoolgirl now lives, are brushed under the carpet etc. There were a lot of moments in that episode where I doubted Beast Boy's credibility as a hero when he seemed totally clueless in the situation he had found himself in. But I get that it was an emotional situation and I do think it's a very powerful, poignant episode. It's not bad at all, just not my choice of how to end the series. I'm very happy with the epilogue to the Terra story that that episode gave us, though.

As for this issue, it did have a few problems that I overlooked, but I'm more than willing to forgive them because it's only a 20-page comic; there's less freedom. I, too, would have preferred a wrap-up with Slade, but J. Torres said they were waiting for confirmation that they weren't going to do another DTV featuring him. It sounds like, in any event, he would have returned in #60 (the 5th anniversary issue) but sadly it wasn't to be. Anyway, this issue had character and scope, necessary ingredients for the Titans' final story. I found that the continuity etc. made for a fun short story with fewer flaws than "Things Change" or "Trouble in Tokyo". But naturally, there are episodes of Teen Titans that are far better, like "Haunted". I kinda agree with you that the comic can't compare with "Things Change", but I'm undecided on the subject.

How else to end a series? “Bring” in a lot of the old villains? Give hope that all is well in the world, that it’s two steps ahead, not one step backwards? How about all of the above? Yes, this is the last issue of Teen Titans Go, a series I picked up almost every month since issue # 1. The one which I have had a lot of fun reading. I’m going to miss it. It was a great way to end the comic book series.

I want to give high praise to J. Torres, Todd Nauck, David Slack, Amy Wolfram, Rob Hoegee, Glen Murakami and the rest of creative team for a great series and a good follow up comic book that most of us come to love and enjoy! :D
