Isn't this a Jump series? Why hasn't Viz licensed it yet?
Or re-licensed it, since it was being released by Raijin comics OH so many years back?

and what about the anime? It seems like it would've been relicensed by now by .. oh say.. FUNimation.

I bring it up cause, well I decided to look into it, since it is like one of those precursor series to alot of fighting manga/anime.

Manga Entertainment licensed a portion of the 80's TV series a while back but the show wasn't a big seller, so fans were left hanging with an incomplete release.

Since the rights to FOTNS expired, Toei has kept a stranglehold on the license ever since. It is doubtful that any other company will license it due to its age (although I hope that ADV would get it one day) and the costs of the license.

It's too bad, really. Fist of the North Star is a badass show and one of the best JUMP series out there. :(

Probably because there is no demand for the title. The anime is old and probably wouldn't sell well today. Viz might try for the manga, but like I said in the first sentence, there isn't a big demand from fans to see it.

Is there an echo in here? Because I already stated the problem with the show's age.

I still wouldn't rule out the possibility that there isn't any demand. The anime community still eats up FOTNS like pie but how much they represent the buying community is questionable.

Isn't there a new series out there now? Licensed by ADV, I believe.
