The future of Futurama on the air may be cloudy, but the future of Futurama on video game consoles has just begun.
Today, SCi Entertainment Group announced that they have acquired the game publishing rights to Futurama, and are producing a game for Playstation 2, X-Box, and Gamecube for 2003.
It is being developed by UDS, whose last title was "World's Scariest Police Chases". The game is a 3D action adventure game, and you can control Fry, Leela, and Bender.
Matt Groening is reportedly very involved in the game's production. The storyline to the game is written by the TV's show's scriptwriter J. Stewart Burns.
Also, the game will sport cel-shaded graphics, in the theme of the show, which itself has many cel-shaded environments and scenes.
Will this be a video game to remember for years to come? Or yet another cartoon flop to add onto the pile of bad cartoon-based video games? Only time will tell.
