Another new episode of OOJM's airs tonight at 7:30. I thought the show was part of CN's New Thursday Nights block, but it isn't, so it's part of general CN now. Here's the synopsis:
After switching bodies between Jimmy and Sonny, Sonny can finally see cartoons. Meanwhile, Jimmy's dad switches bodies with a parrot and Robin switches with an old lady.

I bet blackstar and silerstar will be happy, since Jimmy's Mom is in the episode.

I love Sonny in this episode. I mean hearing his actor speaking in a regular voice is much, MUCH better than the Dr. Eggman-ish Sonny. Having Robin's piano teacher acting like Robin might be the stereotypical hip grandma but she is another good character for the show. I hope that she can return but knowing the toons being a part of the show, we can only take so much of cartoony humans with Flash, "poorly fit in real world" Appleday Toons.
So far, Mr. Roberts wasn't a nuisance as the parrot was in his body throughout the episode but the parrot that had Mr. Roberts soul should've been CGI. Having the live-action parrot with his "beak-flaps" not matching with Mr. Roberts voice or vice versa reminded me of a poorly dubbed anime.
If I have to give a grade for this out of 5, this episode would get a 2. This episode would also get a '3' because of Sonny acting normal and the piano teacher just having fun in this episode.
I do not expect this show to make a return for the third season but this episode was okay. Just don't get crushed by the mutated, muscular Tux or shot by the Golly's robot machine if you hate it.

I don't think Cartoon Network has the money to make a CGI parrot for a half-hour show... go figure... Oh, and how can an episode get a 2 and a 3 at the same time???
I didn't even bother watching this episode, but seeing as some of yours guyses reviews aren't bad, I might catch the rerun.

Aw, you all know us so well. :anime:
First, let me say, Yay for the return of Mrs. Roberts and Sonny! Granted, Louisa didn't do much in this episode, but it was nice just seeing her chilling at home for a change. I hope that it won't be another 4 episodes before we see her again. I wonder if anyone told her about the body swaps and that she went to dinner with a parrot in her husband's body. It's not like she wouldn't believe it, seeing as how she adopted a creature from another planet and has a crazed wanna be super villain living as a border in her house.
I'm also glad for Sonny's return. I was actually beginning to miss him. Seeing him interact with the toons was kind of funny, as was Domenic James as Sonny in Jimmy's body and hearing Mark Knudsen speaking in a normal voice was just...odd.
Overall, an OK episode, not terribly great, but they've done worse.
My rating: 3 out of 5.

Finally. The Sonny sub-plot on trying to steal Jimmy's Brain is finally over.

I doubt it. Following the rules of comedy, they'll probably just hit the reset button and everything will be back the way it was by next episode. They can't put an end to Sonny's mad quest to steal Jimmy's brain; that's his whole character motivation. Without that, what would he do on the show?
Anyway, my 2 cents:
Once again, after a succession of forgettable outings (the mediocre "Movie" and the craptactular "Bad Fad"), we get an outing worth tuning in for (by OOJH standards, that is.) The "characters switch bodies" plot has been done a million times before, but this entry did offer some laughs and worthwhile performances.
THE GOOD:
Kudos go to actor Mark Knudson. Sonny stole this episode (no pun intended). His and Domenic James' performances as Sonny and Jimmy in each others' bodies was one of the highlights of this episode.
The cartoons were funny, as usual. We finally get to see what Sonny would try to do if he had the brain. We also find out the man doesn't have a creative bone in his body, beyond violence and destruction. The toons getting mutated and acquiring violent weapons, and then subsequently pounding on Sonny non-stop was guaranteed laughs.
Mrs. Roberts is finally back after a 2 episode absence, and for once not just to pop in on a video screen apologizing why she can't make it. It would have been nice if she had done a little more, though; she wasn't given the pivotal role she had in "Craig Steals Dad", but as Blackstar mentioned, it was nice to see her just having a 'normal' day at home instead of walking around in full uniform en route to going to the moon or something. Mom's job is cool, but she doesn't have to be on it 24/7.
Mr. Roberts was subdued this time around; it helped that he spent the bulk of the story in a parrot's body.
THE NOT-SO-GOOD (or at least questionable):
Since when is Robin able to go clubbing? Even if with a geriatric inhabiting her body, she's only 14. What sort of rave club (complete with glowing sticks) permits kids to enter?
The dinner scene with Mom and Dad/parrot was amusing, but it was a little short, and I felt they could've expanded on that particular sub-plot a little more. We never did find out if Mrs. Roberts ever caught on to the truth. But at least Mr. Roberts' reason for wanting to switch back was because he loved his wife. That was admittedly kind of sweet.
Yancy doesn't buy Jimmy/Sonny's story? What? I was waiting for someone to say, "You're the green alien living in suburbia and you're having difficulty believing this??"
Craig didn't have much to do in this episode, but given his huge role in "Bad Fad", I guess it was only fair that he be given a break this time around.
Overall, OK. Not great, but better than what we've been treated to for the past 2 weeks.

My prediction is just have him be a villain but be a villain that everyone will care about. Stealing Jimmy's brain or making an attempt to steal it is like going to work everyday. You know just get out of bed and say "Oooh, what to do today? Oh yes, time to steal that kid's brain!"
But with Sonny hating the way the toons acted in this epsiode, I'm betting that he will invent a behavioral machine that would just wipe clean of the toons' minds and pull the old "mind-control" gimmick.

Basement 54, from "Ambush", I was glad to see the continuity.
Additionally, I liked the sentimental talk Robin and her piano teacher had, I would say it gives this episode a large boost. However, I disliked how out of character Mr. Roberts seemed, but I suppose that was to lend to the contrast of his real body acting 'irregular.'
I was considering whilst watching if Sonny's reworking of the cartoons was a rather indirect and sketchy parody of the "Loonatics Unleashed" series.
