Here's a random observation for you all. Remember the sport being played at Hamilton Hill High in Terry's time? The one set in a zero-gravity spherical place, in which players with Lacrosse arms try to flip a ball into a slot, with tackling allowed. (Did that sport ever get a name?)

Those of you who played Final Fantasy X... ever notice the similarity between that and Blitzball? Blitz is played in a spherical tank as players pass a ball around and try to pass it into a goal, with much tackling. There's no lacrosse arms, but other than that the two sports seem very similar.

Acctually what your talknig about isn't Lacross. The game is called Jaili (SP? Pronounced HIGH-LIE) I beleave it's of portugese decent and is kinda big in Florida.

I'm sure the whole concept originates from the novel, Ender's Game by Orson Scott Card

I'm 80% sure the game was called another name not Blitzball.

The game in BATMAN BEYOND is definately NOT Blitzball - though it does have a lot of similarities. (I still can't figure out how to play Blitzball AND do well in FFX...argh...)

The sport that uses the "scoop" is indeed called Jai-Alai (HI LI), not La Crosse. The scoop is called a "cesta."

The game in Batman Beyond looks like a cross between jai-alai, hockey and football. And even though I can't remember which episode it was, that sport was definitely referred to as "Hockey" in BB.

Funny, isn't it, that wrestling (in "Rebirth") and soccer (in "Unmasked") look exactly the same as they do in the present time, but hockey has completely changed. Although it could be that ice hockey and field hockey still exist, and the hockey in BB is another version of the sport (tube hockey?).
