Wow, wasn't expecting this. I have to wonder, is Totally Spies still popular? It seems like one of those "fad" shows that was super popular a few years back but not so much anymore, but am I wrong about that?

Where on Earth did this come from?? This movies going to bomb for the most part. If they made this movie like 2 or 3 years back it would've done good, but now, I'm not so sure.

Hear, hear! Since they're making a movie, it makes even more sense for CN to air the new eps soon (when they're finished promoting and airing the premiere eps of their Saturday morning block). This may be what's going to happen since they already have breaks and rejoins for Totally Spies! for the Dynamite Action Squad block (from when they were airing Season 4 eps on Saturday mornings a few months back).

This show is still fairily popular in Canada and Europe, though the absence of it from US airwaves has stagnated its popularity here. Though I still enjoy the show, its concept is not nearly as fresh as it was when it debuted in 2001 and wish the characters and plots had been developed more over the show's run.
Given the movie's reported budget ($12 million, according to the report), it wouldn't be hard for it to turn a profit if they both promote it pretty well and give it a wide release. We shall see..

Well, I kinda doubt it's going to air in cinemas here in the United States, as it's no longer popular. It's still popular in it's country of origin though.

Cause Marathon's got the money. :p Plus, it's one of the most popular cartoons in Europe (where the studio is located) and it's one of their most profitable series. So oh course they would make a movie. But as I've said, they've got the money and Atomic Cartoons (studio of Atomic Betty) doesn't.

This is a totally stupid idea, as the show is no longer airing on CN, and wasn't all that popular. They better hope Europe will be able to make back that 12 Million, cause it sure as hell won't even make 1 million in the U.S. (Including Merchandise sales)

I believe Totally Spies started out on FOX Family but it's not a very smart idea nonetheless. Totally Spies has a cult following at best.

As was stated previously, a theatrical release in the US seems unlikely, as Totally Spies hasn't been airing here in the States for some time now, plus it was never a monster hit in the US to begin with. The TS movie will likely remain relegated to its' native Europe, or perhaps extend to a release in Canada, where the show is still popular.

Looking at what this movie is going to be about, tell me that this synopsis didn't remind anyone of the origin episode "A Spy Is Born". I don't think the world needs yet another origin of anything especially Totally Spies.
And I will agree with everyone saying that this movie will bomb. Ohhhh, yeah it will fail in theaters faster than The PowerPuff Girls Movie which was yet another origin story that was already dealt with in the series itself.

I sure hope it doesn't come out to theaters in America. It would bomb miserably. It should just be played on TV.

They should have moved the girls up to university after the whole Terrence thing at the end of season 3 instead of waiting for season 5. That would have shaken things up a little.
They should have made the Martin Mystery crossover into a movie, at least a DTV one instead of just one episode.

I don't know if that's a possibility; Martin Mystery was aired on Nickelodeon and Nicktoons, so I dont know if that'll end up causing some legal obstacles to cross...

Except for the fact that both groups consist of 3 pre-adult girls, I don't see how Totally Spies and Powerpuff Girls are in any way similar. The WHOOP agents don't have super powers, aren't 5 years old, aren't sisters and weren't created from sugar, spice and everything nice mixed with Chemical X, as I recall.
If anything, Totally Spies is more reminiscent of Charlie's Angels in terms of premise and concept.

Eh, I think that the Totally Spies movie would be released with no competition and still not do very well in theaters. TS was never a monster hit here in the States, only a moderate hit. If Marathon is smart, they won't bother with releasing the film theatrically in the U.S. and will take it straight to DVD or just run the film on Cartoon Network.

No one knows for sure yet, but I'm guessing that if the Totally Spies movie does come to the US, it won't be released theatrically; it would seem to make more sense to release it as a DTV or something in the States, since TS was never that huge here. I imagine this film would take a huge bath if Marathon tried to release the TS movie in theaters here; it would almost be another Doogal situation.

OT, but Doogal did OK in the UK (hey, that ryhmes) because it was based on a children's TV show from the 60s, therefore many people could relate to it. The US market didn't have an audience like that because the show was never broadcast here (possibly because it was French and had tons of drug references, I don't know). The movie was therefore judged on an 'as is' basis and unfortunately it wasn't very good. It's a tragedy that Butch Hartman was attached to it.
I'd say a broadcast on TV or a direct to DVD release is most likely for the Totally Spies! movie, at least in the States. Internationally, I'd think it's quite likely that a theatrical release would do quite well.

I will repeat what I said in an earlier post. This movie will flop and I am not kidding on that idea. The best bet is making the film a DTV release.
Same goes for anything Ben 10 related. If there's one thing CN doesn't want is another one of their films being laughed out of theaters. Just look at the Box Office run of The PowerPuff Girls and tell me that WB and CN should had spent their money on a better film that wasn't an origin story and just sent the film straight to DVD.

I'll admit you got me on that one but with all of these superhero movies out starting with origin stories, I'm betting that's exactly what WB would do considering like the waste of time that is HSM 3 some kids will be new to the series and if they don't know what Ben 10 is, chances are there will be an origin movie.
If we do get an origin movie of Ben 10, it better have some better CGI than Wildmutt and Heatblast. I will admit that I liked Heatblast from the trailers but after seeing the film on demand and on TV, he is the big one who needs all the help he can get in terms of design.

Yea that might work, or maybe in the future when Alien Force is about to finish its run, just make a theatrical movie to end it with a bang. But an origin movie is highly unlikely. The difference between PPG and Ben 10's origin backgrounds is that before the movie, all that was known about how the Powerpuff Girls came to be was the opening title sequence. But Ben 10's very first episode had a whole episode about how he got the omnitrix, and where the omnitrix came from was explained in Secret of the Omnitrix. So an origin story isn't likely.

From what I've heard, it's a spinoff in that Sam, Alex and Clover are still in it but are going to be pushed to the wayside in favor of new leads. So I guess it's more of a 'next gen' show than a true spinoff in that sense. More of a spin-on, I suppose.
