I have been reading alot of both Marvel Comics and DC Comics and it's really obvious how differently these two companies handle their respective unvierses. When The Hollywood Reporter posted this article (http://forums.toonzone.net/showthread.php?t=210716) it got me thinking more about these two big comic companies. So I ask, who do you think has the best comic universe - Marvel or DC? Is it also your favorite?

LOL...I think both universes suck and both companies' efforts to accomodate the existences of "unified" comic universes have wasted a lot of comic readers' time and money. Infinite this, Infinite that, Ultimate this, Marvel that. It's hard to keep straight anymore. The general feeling is that they want to please BOTH camps: the people who want to blow it up and the people who want to preserve it.
That makes it even more confusing.

As a DC fan through and through, I say Marvel. They don't need to reconfigure it every other week.

This sounds like a very loaded question. I'm more of a DC fan myself, but I have to agree with Harlan_Phoenix. While I'm sure Marvel has their fair share of problems and crises, DC has been down these last few years. With their endless attempts to fix things and turn things around (Identity/Infinite/Final Crisis), I have not been impressed or convinced thus far. After the OYL debacle, I haven't been keeping up with the latest events outside of a couple of books.
Maybe some Marvel fans can address the Captain America/Civil War events and the good and bad things Marvel has been doing. Perhaps things are finally turning around for DC, but I'm not quite convinced.

I don't have a favorite comic universe. Each has their own strengths and weaknesses, so I refuse to pick a side.

Their attempts at cleanup are good in theory, but they seem to end up making a bigger mess of things :p.

DC's always my favorite of the two universes, but agree that Marvel's universe these days is (somewhat) more cohesive (I can pick up a 1965 Marvel comic and assume Spidey's adventures in it still "happened" as of 2008; the same isn't true for Superman's comics of that era).

It saddens me, but...tis true.

They both stink right now. DC just can't seem to form a coherent universe(see the whole Countdown/Sinestro Corps fiasco for an example). Marvel on the other hand tried to shake things up with Civil War and they did a good job.......temporarily. Now the whole post CW universe is just as much of a mess.

Both companies need to stop worrying so much about creating these big company crossovers and concentrate on the individual comics. Make a comic with good story and good art. Deal with the individual characters. Not some huge storyline that has every character in existance in it.
