Heh, did you see the FF character tournament on the FF wiki (http://finalfantasy.wikia.com/wiki/Final_Fantasy_Wiki:Magicite_Madness)? Sephiroth lost to Kefka and Cloud didn't last very long at all. In fact, it was the FFXII cast that was dominating it for a while. It was really interesting since the most obvious characters who win or get close to winning in the Gamefaqs tournaments were blown away in this one.

You mean the entire cast of Final Fantasy VII? There's defiantly no bias there.

That's like saying it would be ridiculous for the Queen to head up a list of top 25 people in the UK. FF7 has carried the fame and iconography for FF since its debut - whether people like it or not. Not just the most famous, but the one that has carried the most well known characters from the game (with an extra helping hand from AC). Those are the reasons the pair appear in the top 5 (and the only 2 of the 5 which do appear).

Articles like this have no interest in bias, more in being representative, and Sephiroth and Cloud are big FF names - definitely the biggest.. I'm just glad Vivi snuck in there, though he wouldn't have been my personal choice.

Tifa's a fantastic character with a lot of depth, and I'd easily put her up with Terra and Celes among the best female leads in the FF series.

It's a shame people just see she's hot and ignore the great character there.

Quote for truth. If it helps, he's my favorite FFVII character, if not the only one. Any who, I was pleasantly surprised Steiner made it into the list while Setzer made it to #12. That's pretty durn high, but I say kudos; both are definitely awesome characters.

And even more that Vivi landed in second place. I was very surprised he trumped Cloud. He's always been my overall favorite on the basis that his angst-ridden depth isn't so annoyingly typical when molded with his personality: he's just as sweet, kind, clumsy, and funny as he is melodramatic and it's this even balance that makes him such an enduring character for me.

One of the reasons why I catered to FFIX was the fine usage of character development. If they didn't have it, they made up for it through character personality. Garnet's speech pattern turning from refined princess to a far more casual tone or Steiner's gradual evolution from stuffed shirt to a more accepting individual were just some of the icings on an already delicious cake. The game really focused a lot on character and with it, had a charming appeal I loved.

I admit to loving FF7's music. It had a lot more emotional feeling fitting with the world/characters them most Final Fantasies I've played.

By the way, I can’t see the list at the moment (I’m at school and Ign is blocked). So could anyone tell me were Zack is (assuming he’s on the list). I think that he is even better than Cloud.
