Well, this was probably one of my most anticipated books of the month, and it did not dissappoint. While I was lost on some things (Shadow, but I assume that happened at the end of TMNT vol. 1, and the second & third series (animated and Image) have been disregarded), it wasn't too big a deal and I was able to keep track of everything just fine.
I loved the banter between the turtles. You can tell that they're all brothers. And Casey Jones is still an extremely cool guy.
The superhero hospital is a very interesting development. I'm surprised I haven't seen something like this before.(besides the asylum in the last episode of live-action Tick)
The armored car full of money. It seems our boys in green will soon be very wealthy.
The Krang on the moon subplot continues, and I'll admit I have no idea where it's going. But that's a good thing. Hopefully Shredder will show up, but I don't know if he was killed in the original series or not. Hopefully it'll be released in trade form sometime down the line.
I really liked the art to this book. It has a cartoony, yet gritty feel at the same time. It really fits the Turtles.
The TMNT are back, baby! And boy, are they great. :bosko: April can't come soon enough...

I just kinda skimmed your post. I don't want to know too much; I just mailed in my check for this comic book the other day. But it looks like it's a worthwhile read and you can bet I'll come back to this thread the day it comes in the mail to share my thoughts. LONG LIVE TMNT.

Out of curiosity, were you able to get ahold of a copy of issue #1 as well?

I asked about it in an email to Dan Berger of ninjaturtles.com and I was told they still had copies of issue #1 available (this was on 2/5). Two weeks later, which was on 2/19, I mailed in two checks. One for issue #1, and one for issue #2. I only hope I wasn't too late. I guess I'll find out in 2-6 weeks.

Good luck to ya! And trust me, any Turtles fan will love this series! It's very much like the classic series, but not nearly as violent as the Image series. Plus, there's 32 pages of story in each issue, and issue #3 will be $2.95 for a whopping 49 page story. These are better prices than the big two are giving. An 80s revival is now in full swing (Turtles, G.I.Joe, Transformers. All we need is some Ghostbusters and we'd be really kickin.)
Coolness ^^ Out of curiosity - whose drawing the Turtles series?

Peter Laird does the writing, lettering, and inking/toning. Jim Lawson does the penciling. The two have alternated on the covers with the help of Michael Dooney.

L-Laird? This explains everything!

Yeah, I happen to be enough of a fan to appreciate Laird's greatness but not enough of one to know that he was returning. Shame on me.
The original series is compiled in 4 trades, but they're out of print.

Woohoo! But only 4? I thought this series went into the 60s or so.

D'oh! eBay, here I come!
From what I remember, Peter Laird bought out Kevin Eastman's rights to the series a while ago since he wanted to continue the Turtles, but I think Mr. Eastman didnt want to pursue it. **shrugs**
Its a good thing too - its obvious that there are still a huge lot of Turtles fans, myself included. ^^ My only problem would be if I tried to read the series now I'm afraid I would be lost. @___@ Anyone care to catch ol' dub up to speed on whats happened in the Turtles Universe? ^_____^

Maybe a little, but not too much.
A friend of mine has #2 already so I read it. If it doesn't sell out, I'll pick it up as I liked it. There are definitely references made to the original series as it seems to be continuing it, but there's enough explanation given that you wouldn't be really lost.
I want to read #1 though as I want to know what happened to cause the situation that was present in #2.
