John, you have to be one of the most talented artists I've seen. Freeze came out amazing. I also like the implied action when it's essentially a still shot. You're the man!

John, this has to be some of your best work yet. Mr. Freeze looks great, and the steam/vapor coming from the freeze gun looks awesome. Freakazoid looks cool too, but I really do have to thank you for including Freeze. You've made many fans happy with this sketch. :D

This guy needs a regular gig. He's too good not to have one. His art just looks really great. I never expected to see the Beyond Freeze thrown into the Freakazoid! pic, but there he is, and the two contrast each other so much, and F! is just so, well, F! It's perfect!

Aw, I wanted a pic of Freakazoid giving Freeze a wedgie. :D

Seriously, though. I think that's the best sketch so far. One of things I really love about it is the way John gives you a great picture and also hints about why the picture works. Freakazoid would just look like he were encased in a line, except that the lines of his arms and in his hair fade out, as though he substance were mostly translucent but also (in places) opaque -- just like ice. The light shading around the edges give the ice a three dimensional feel. The white spots at Freeze's knees and helmet and chest, suggesting the cold gleam of his suit.

And is there anything more chilling than the use of those flat angular blocks to suggest Freeze's skull-like head?

This guy needs a gig doing a Batman "Black and White" story.

I didn't know if I was going to like this one much or not- I like Freakazoid, but I was pulling for others- but I must say this is one of my favorites so far! Keep 'em coming, John!!!

Thanks again for the kind words. A couple of people have mentioned the way things went with some of the voters last week, and I just wanted to throw my two cents in.
I'm all for freedom of speech, we're not all going to agree on everything, but that's what makes living in democratic countries so great. I was not bothered or offended by any of the comments made by any of the posters, they are just saying what's on their mind, the only thing that would bother me would be lying, I really hate lying.
All the posters have a deep passion for their beliefs and that is always a good thing, just let's never forget that the spirit of these polls is fun, so let's have fun.

LOL! Me and Bird Boy were picturing that same exact pic that you just drew. He had the idea of him freezing Freakazoid, and I had the idea of Freakzoid in that same EXACT cartoony pose! :D

When you next drawing comes up, maybe you'll draw the same pic that's in my head! Well, maybe not..lol. :p

Just wondering, after you draw and ink the pics, do you scan it and do some finishing touches on an editing program? It just looks so cool, and thanks for taking the time to do this for us! I do hope you stick around a long time. Wouldn't it be so cool if there was a DC colorist here that would color in Delaney's pics, to make it even better? Heh, there's another goal for you DG! :p

Another question, did you come to us, or did someone ask you to do this? If it's the first, then THANK YOU SO MUCH! Hope there will be more grat drawings like this in the future!

Can't do much from here, guys. All my e-mails are at home. I will post that poll as soon as I get home. Won't even take my coat off. ;) I normally only work three days now, but my manager needed some extra help today.

Pretty much. He used his suit to freeze people, but the freezing ray did come from those big things on his arm, the area around the wrist. So basically, yeah, his hands.

Like that one post just a sec ago. I thought Brian and Harley shared the same comp but it was just her at work, and she even told me logs on a work before! Doh!

Can someone tell me EXACTLY where the Freeze ray came from? I don't see anything on Freeze's wrist things on his arm in JD's sketch that might let out the freeze rays. Also, where there any other things that Freeze's suit did for him that his old suits couldn't do?

Duncanzits, who exactly is the character that you voted for?

Mr.Freeze did indeed shoot freeze rays from his hand in BatmanBeyond I just thought visually the gag would work better with a gun rather than a smoking hand

After I finish inking the drawings I scan them into photoshop so I can add highlights and lens flares. I do the shadows on a seperate level so I can make them lighter or darker, whatever the drawing needs.
The poll idea came about as a result of a bunch of posters asking for sketches, I just thought rather than have to say no to some and yes to others it would be simpler and funner to do a weekly poll.
Fortunately the great kats at TZ were able to put it together, they're the real heroes in this, and deserve the real THANK YOUS!

Fie! What fickle, frosty fate has been felled upon our fair Freak? Wonderful rendition, John - it's great to have both ends of the 'toon spectrum (wacky vs. severe) represented - and yes, the BB 'mecha' Freeze design RAWKS. ^_~

FWIW, if the tables were turned, I'd love to see a page taken from one of Paul Dini's speculations on the fate of Mr. Freeze in the BB future - Freak fishes in his fridge for a snack, reaching for the jar of Claussen dills behind Freeze's head in a jar.

It just depends on the characters. Sometimes I really like just drawing a simple pose as long as it reflects the character's attitude.
