Actually, it’s two weeks. But for the High School Students, The AP Exams are this week and next week, so it’s time to earn those valuable college credits. So you better start study and aiming for those 5’s.
So what AP Exams are you going to be taking?
As for me, I’ve got AP Statistics today, AP Calculus (BC) tomorrow, and AP Physics (C) next Monday.
I also wanted to note that last year I took AP Chemistry, and earned a 5, so I got 8 college credits.
Quick breakdown of AP Exams:
Monday, 5/5 – Government & Politics US and French Lang.
Tuesday, 5-6 – Spanish Lang and Statistics
Wednesday, 5/7 – Calculus AB and BC
Thursday, 5/8 – English Lit.
Friday, 5/9 – US History and European History
Monday, 5/12 – Biology and Music Theory and Physics B and C
Tuesday, 5/13 – Chemistry and Psychology
Thursday, 5/15 – Macroeconomics and Microeconomics
I may not have listed every single AP Exam, but those are most of the main ones.

I'm currently taking MFA Thesis. Does that count?
:D
Seriously, good luck with those. That's an enormous workload and if you pass them all you should be very proud. I never had the guts to take any AP courses. Wish I did.

Friday I have the American History exam, for which I am using the Giant AHAP review on historyteacher.net.
Next Wednesday, I have the AP English Lang and Comp exam, which I'll just be crossing my fingers on. I don't think it'll be that hard.
I'm looking forward to not having history or english classes my college freshman year!

My school never had AP exams. Instead, my last year I used a provision of the state to take actual college courses for college credit. I took Anthropology!
I am not a math person, though I am no stranger to Algebra and Trig. I am much more of a political science/history person.

I finished up with my exams last week, but when I was in high school I took the AP US History, European History, Biology, Physics (B), Calculus (AB), and German tests. I also took the AP Chemistry class but didn't take the test. It was a time of intense work so good luck to everyone! It's really rewarding once it's all done with.

Just finished with the AP Spanish Language test. The oral part was terribly difficult. Damn recorders. And now I have AP Calculus test to look forward to tomorrow. Joy. >.>
Though the best part was the supervisor. "Remember, you may NEVER talk to anyone about the multiple choice questions through ANY means, EVER." Everyone LOL'd at that.
I was also thinking of taking the AP Music Theory test, since I'm actually taking that course, but I know I would bomb the sight singing portion so badly.

I just realized what month it is. Why are the AP exams a month before general school finals? What are you even going to do in the AP classes now that exams are over but school isn't?

Another unit or something. Generally high school classes help you prepare for the AP exams, but it's not like the teachers only teach the test, at least in my experience. There's plenty of material out there that's not tested on the AP exams.

Woo!! AP pride.
Friday is my US history exam, conveniently placed on the same day as my Jr. Prom. =D
[sadly, Juniors are only offered this one AP class at my school because the rest are reserved for seniors].
Next year I'll be taking English, Spanish, and Environmental though. We have such a limited selection it sucks.

The rest of my history class until June is spent working on the big term paper.

There's plenty of material out there that's not tested on the AP exams. In my HS experience, all the classes under the New York State Regents pretty much did exactly that: Spend the school year teaching the test and then at the end the test is taken. They've since overhauled the Regents from what I've heard, so I don't know how the classes are taught now.
The rest of my history class until June is spent working on the big term paper.Ah, term papers. That makes sense considering AP does more to prepare you for college. Good luck with that.

Like others, I have the US History test on Friday. I'm not really looking forward to it, not that I think I'll fail-I'm thinking I could probabaly get a 3, which isn't worth crap anyways-but I really do not feel like answering some long winded question in an essay by applying the social, political, and economic effects on a certian scenario.
I found the entire AP US class to be almost worthless, actually. Just slept all day in it and managed to ace it.
I have the AP History one on friday and the AP Chemistry one next Tuesday.......... my confidence is faltering...

I had my AP Stats yesterday, and that had to be the easiest test ever. They gave us 90min on each portion of the test, and I finished each portion with 45min and 30min left respectively. I had to pass the time by playing Phoenix on my calculator.
I got AP Calc in about 20min. That one should be easy too.

Interesting. You can actually take AP US History as a sophomore at our school.
Also, my teachers said that some schools around the country start in August, so by the time APs come around, it’s about the end of the school year. But he (in Wisconsin) classes didn’t start until the first week of September, so we still got about a month left of school when the exams are all said and done.

AP Exams are jokes. I wish someone told me how useless they were before I blew 600-some dollars on eight exams.
But good luck to everyone taking it! :p

Well, it’s $84 per exam, but you could earn anywhere between 3 and 8 college credits… which is worth about $500 to $2000… so it’s a good deal. Of course you need to at least score a 3, otherwise you won’t get any.
Anyways, I had AP Calc this morning, and it was pretty easy. My teacher usually gave us tests that were harder that the Exam, so I guess I was well prepared.

What are you even going to do in the AP classes now that exams are over but school isn't? :confused:We always did something really fun to celebrate (like in Chemistry we tie-dyed t-shirts) and then did a presentation or paper on the topic of our choice. The last month of school in AP classes was awesome.

$84?! What the...I had to pay $96 for every exam!
I thought the Calculus test was somewhat challenging, though I probably managed a 4. And now I'm done with AP exams. Party time!
Interesting fact: they way they score the AP exams is to have college students take the same test, and then compare their scores to ours.

Oh, yeah, that's true as well; I'm just saying that they use college students to determine how they decide the line between 4 and 5, 3 and 4, etc.
For example, if college students who got an "A" on their college Calculus course get an average of 83% on the Calculus AP exam, then the high school students who get an 83% or higher on the AP get a 5. A 4 corresponds to a "B", and so on.

According to my high school teachers, the lines between each grade level are dependent on how other high school students do on the exam that year. So if the year you took the test was a weaker year on the whole, you would get a better score than if it was a stronger year on the whole.
Either way, I've paid my AP dues so it doesn't really matter at this point. I just find it odd different people hear different things. Unless it's changed in the last couple of years o.O

Well, I've also been told they consider how difficult the test is, and that they combine that with the college student factor. So basically, they combine these factors all together and then come up with an official cut off point between scores for that year.
This is all coming from my teacher who told our class this today. He's an official grader of the tests (or at least he was a few years ago), so I'm pretty sure his information is accurate.
But anyway, that's probably why it takes them so long to grade the tests. I can't believe that we won't get our result until the third week of July. Though, you can get your results two weeks early over the phone if you pay an extra $12. What a scam...

Oh, I know the process---AP Exams were seeeeerious business to my classmates and I back when I was an upperclassman in high school (I think it was $82 dollars for us, though...could just be routine a price increase, seeing as how this was 2-3 years ago). But I'm not lying when I said they were useless for me. And not even because my scores were bad---I got four 4s and four 5s---it's just that the college I decided to attend has a very strict set of core requirements, so the only tests that actually exempted me out of any intro classes were the two Econ exams. But of course, I decided not to concentrate in Econ earlier this semester, so it was all for naught. Calc BC only sort of exempted me, since I still had to take Calc III to get credit for the exam. I'm okay with not getting anything for Bio (I'm a Bio major, so I would've had to take Intro Bio anyway), but APUSH, English Lang, English Lit, Psych...nothing gained.
Just make sure that the school you're going to accepts all your [potential] credits if you have the chance, is all I'm saying. I didn't decide on a school until after the refund deadline passed, so yeah...
But good luck to everyone, anyway. Everyone seems to be in the middle of exams right now. I have my Organic Chemistry final Friday morning. Not really looking forward to that...

Depends on the class, really. My Calc teacher made us learn more stuff while my Econ teacher basically urged us to skip class.

Unfortunately, my school only takes 4s and 5s, so I only got credit for 2 of my tests despite passing 5.
My college takes mostly 4s as well. But sometimes if you get a 3, you pass X class 101 which would be like 4 credits, but if you get a 4 then you pass 101 and 102, which is like 8 credits.
$84?! What the...I had to pay $96 for every exam!
Really?! It’s $84 for the Exam, period. But we had to pay an extra $4 for an online resource (which I never used). So maybe that extra resource you had cost $12.

Actually it’s even lighter than that. A 50% on Chemistry will get you a 5, whereas I think 67% will get you a 5 in Calc. But it’s the same idea.

Yeah, it is important to see if your college is going to accept your AP Credits ahead of time.
My Calc teacher was the same way. When we were going through differential equations, he said that what we were learning was actually Calc III. He’s tests prepared me very well of the exam, so it was a breeze to me.

Ah, AP Exams. I remember taking the classes and exams in high school. Anyways, I took AP English Composition (I believe it was called) and AP U.S. History for junior year. Then, I took AP U.S. Political Science, AP Microeconomics, and AP Calculus AB. However, I only took the exams for English, History, and Political Science.
I got a 3 for English and 4 for Political Science and History.
You have to get fours and fives to get credit for most courses at Auburn. I know that you can get a 3 in Calculus and still get credit. Anyways, I got 3 hours of credit for History and an exemption from having to take the second History course and 3 hours of credit for Political Science.
The 3 hours of credit for Political Science really do much, since I had to take Micro and Marco Economics for the College of Business(The core curriculum requires one to take three hours of either Political Science or Economics) . Though, I did get credit for classes for the Honors College, so I guess taking the AP exams weren't such a bad idea after all.
Oh, and if I remember correctly, classes were ending near the time AP classes started at my school. I believe there was only a week or two left before high school started after AP exams ended. I think my senior year, the exams week for seniors overlapped with some of the AP exams, but I'm not too sure.
Anyways, all the overachievers at Toon Zone amazes me. Makes me feel kind of dumb, since I only took a few AP classes and just three AP exams, two which I got credit for.

Well, I had my last AP exam yesterday: Physics. I got to say, that was by far the hardest exam I took this year. One of the essays had differential equations… WOW, I totally spaced out for a bit, and by the time a realized that I did it wrong, there was only 2 minuets left, so I had to cross everything off and fix it in 2 minuets, and I did. I finished as they called time.
I remember my Calc teacher said that differential equations like that was like Calc III, so it was hard. I think I’ll at least get a 4.
And that’s it for Exams for me. Now my only non-AP class is Modern Literature, so it should be smooth sailing for here on. Hopefully I’ll be able to up my grades a bit.

Well, the AP Exams Weeks are coming to a close today. And from the looks of it, it sounds like everyone did very well. A lot of predicted 4’s and 5’s. I would just like to say congratulation to everyone. You all deserve it for all the hard work you put in to these classes. All that’s left now is to look forward to Graduation.
In my AP Calc class, all we’ve been doing that last week has been playing games like “Apples to Apples” and “Cranium”.
